Job summary

Fero International Inc. is hiring a Material Handler to manage materials from arrival at the plant through delivery to production users. You will handle receipts, storage, inventory accuracy, and provide materials as needed to production.

Responsibilities include tracking packing slips, moving materials by project, and maintaining equipment and workspace safety. Forklift certification and modular construction exposure are considered advantages.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of construction materials.
  • Ability to manage fluctuating workload to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication.
  • Organizational, time-management and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with an inventory system and MS Office (SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is an asset.
  • Forklift certification and experience preferred.
  • Previous modular construction experience an asset.

  • Receipt of Material including tracking packing slips and communicating material arrival and shortages to involved parties and processing the received material in dynamics.
  • Storage of material by project.
  • Transfer materials internally and track all movements.
  • Provide material to the line per Picking List or Replenishment rules based on project type.
  • Count and return extra material from the line into general storage.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy via spot counts and inventory cycle counts and maintaining labeling and tagging of material and skids.
  • Remove prepared waste materials from the production line.
  • Maintain material handling equipment including daily check lists and routine maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness of storage workspaces for safety and ease of use.
  • Assist Production with movement of materials and modules as availability allows.
  • Additional duties as requested by Inventory Management.
  • Assist all other teammates as opportunity allows.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Fero Code of Business Conduct.

Position Overview

As the material handler, you will be responsible for material from arrival at the plant until delivery to the users of the product. Qualifications

  • Ability to manage a fluctuating workload and set priorities to meet deadlines and maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with the production team.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate organizational, time-management and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of an inventory system and MS Office applications (including SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) will be an asset.
  • Forklift certification and experience will be preferred.
  • Previous modular construction experience will be an asset.
Physical Requirements
  • Must stand for long periods, with frequent lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions including outdoors.
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting, tight spaces and ladder use.
  • Working at heights.
  • Wearing PPE such as safety boots, safety vest, safety glasses and gloves.
