Job summary

Univar Solutions Canada Ltd is seeking a hands-on maintenance/operations professional at our Alliston site to support HazMat handling and line-side waste management. You will operate machinery like the Styrofoam Densifier, perform inspections, and assist with plant-wide recycling processes.

Responsibilities

  • Training as back-up in HazMat’s 1 & 2.
  • Proper handling and management of flammable, hazardous, and non-hazardous products and wastes as scheduled or required.
  • Monitor and remove all flammable, hazardous, and non-hazardous products and waste from line side and move to designated areas.
  • Operation of Machinery (Styrofoam Densifier).
  • Inspections and record keeping (Waste Location, Area and Pre-Shift Inspections).
  • Other special assignments or tasks as requested (e.g. Shutdown).
  • Focusing on Skid Reclaim/Collection plant-wide.
  • Plant 2 Compactor Room Sorting as to HCM’s Circular Recycling Process.
  • Collection of Kevlar Products from Stamping and Welds.
  • Collection of Ricoh Toner Cartridges.
  • Support of Facilities Projects and Innovations

What you'll do:

Reporting to the Site Manager, your general responsibilities include

  • Training as back-up in HazMat’s 1 & 2
  • Proper handling and management of flammable, hazardous, and non-hazardous products and wastes as scheduled or required.
  • Monitor and remove all flammable, hazardous, and non-hazardous products and waste from line side and move to designated areas.
  • Operation of Machinery (Styrofoam Densifier)
  • Responsible for inspections and record keeping, which includes: Waste Location Inspections, Area Inspections, Pre-Shift Inspections.
  • Other special assignments or tasks as requested.(E.g. Shutdown)

What you'll need:
  • Good mechanical skills for understanding how machinery works, and being able to safely apply knowledge, if required.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate all available equipment (forklift, Cushman, etc.) in adherence with training procedures and company policies.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a team-based organization, be detail oriented, and enjoy continuous learning.
  • Ability to work 6:00am to 2:30pm, or 6:30am - 3pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm to complete tasks, and willingness to contribute to a successful team.
  • Good written, mechanical, computer and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail skills
  • Good reading skills for understanding labels and standard operating procedures

Pay and benefits:

This position is currently vacant. The annual expected salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
