The Master of Environmental Science (MEnvSc) program is a 12-month, course-based professional program that prepares students for careers in environmental science across industry, government, non-governmental organizations and related sectors. A key component of the program is an internship that provides students with the opportunity to apply their academic learning to real-world environmental challenges, develop professional networks, and build the skills and experience needed for successful careers.
As the Master of Environmental Science Internship Coordinator, you will play a key role in connecting our students with the evolving environmental employment market. You will work with employers, alumni, industry contacts and other external partners to proactively grow and diversify internship opportunities across emerging and established areas of environmental employment, while strengthening relationships with organizations and professionals already engaged with our program.
This is a highly external-facing role for someone who enjoys developing relationships, identifying new opportunities and turning connections into meaningful opportunities for students. You will use labour‑market, industry and employer intelligence to anticipate emerging workforce needs, identify prospective employers, develop new markets and pursue partnership opportunities. You will maintain a strong network of employers, alumni and other external contacts that supports recruitment, internship development and student career success.
Student development is equally central to the position. You will lead seminars and workshops that contribute to students' career preparation and provide individual guidance on job‑search strategies, industry research, networking, applications and interviews. You will help students understand current and emerging employer expectations, evaluate suitable internship opportunities and position themselves effectively for environmental careers. The MEnvSc program integrates this career‑skills development directly into its academic programming.
Throughout the internship cycle, you will work closely with students and employers to support successful internship experiences and gain first‑hand insight into changing workforce needs. Your knowledge of employers and the environmental labour market will help the department anticipate changing workforce needs, strengthen student preparation, and identify new directions for employer engagement and internship development.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team and contribute directly to the growth and evolution of a professional graduate program with established employer, industry and alumni networks.
