Job summary

MTC Solutions is seeking a dedicated R&D Lab & Testing Specialist to commission, operate, and improve our mass timber hardware testing lab in the Greater Vancouver area. You will prepare specimens, run tests, collect data, and work with engineers to advance product validation.

The role evolves from initial commissioning and project management to day-to-day lab operations, ensuring safe, organized testing and reliable data for product development and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Timber Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Technology, Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
• 3+ years of relevant structural/materials testing or lab experience preferred.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and understanding basic structural concepts.

Responsibilities

• Commission and validate new lab equipment and testing systems.
• Set up, run, and document structural tests per test plans.
• Coordinate test programs, materials, fixtures, and resources to keep projects on track.
• Procure test materials and support cost-effective testing.
• Operate lab equipment and collect reliable data for engineers.
