Job summary

MTC Solutions is seeking an R&D Engineer to advance mass timber connection technology in British Columbia. You will plan investigations, develop concepts, and coordinate testing with internal teams and external labs to build validated engineering solutions.

The role blends analysis, experimentation, and practical product development, offering ownership of projects, technical documentation, and collaboration across engineering and product groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Timber Engineering or related
• P.Eng. designation or EIT pursuing P.Eng.
• 2–6 years of relevant structural engineering, applied research, testing, or product development
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics, load paths, material behaviour
• Experience with timber engineering or mass timber is a strong asset
• Experience interpreting CSA O86, NDS, Eurocode 5 or similar codes
• Experience with engineering analysis tools, CAD, or numerical modelling

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute investigations related to structural connections and timber systems.
• Develop and evaluate new connection concepts and product improvements.
• Perform calculations, analytical modelling, and code-based evaluations.
• Coordinate internal and external testing programs and analyze results.
• Prepare technical summaries, calculations, and test documentation.
