Job description

Position Mandate: Responsible for the WDM’s marketing initiatives to increase community engagement and participation in WDM programs and services. Utilizes multiple channels and platforms to develop and implement marketing campaigns. Monitors and adjusts marketing campaigns to meet goals and reports on campaign success. Undertakes special projects assigned by the Director of Community Engagement.

Representative Duties
Marketing
  • Create and deliver the marketing campaigns, content schedules, and marketing materials to meet WDM goals and objectives.
  • Deliver and manage the tactical plans for advertising and content schedules for both online and traditional media as per the marketing strategy.
  • Oversee the WDM’s online digital presence across various platforms ensuring prompt, appropriate responses to public inquiries and cohesion with other ongoing marketing campaigns.
  • Prepare and distribute media releases and public services announcements, coordinating media interviews and engagements when necessary.
  • Implement and maintain brand and communication standards across all marketing materials.
  • Conduct market research to understand audience needs and identify audience segments.
  • Manage, track and fulfill all promotional and community requests for Museum admission
  • Social Media & Website Management
  • Creates graphics and reels for social media posts.
  • Manage online content including social media, Google, Trip Advisor, etc. for comments, posts, paid advertising and reputation.
  • Plans and manage email and social marketing campaigns to enhance engagement with target audiences.
  • Performs website updates to ensure accuracy and current content.
  • Perform website quality assurance checks on a regular basis to ensure all website plug-ins are up to date and arranges for website updates as required.
  • Creates web pages for events, exhibits, blog posts, and public programs.
  • Ensure website SEO is maintained and implements best practices by managing descriptions, captions, alt text, and more.
Administration
  • Track and analyze marketing campaign and website performance, providing reports and recommendations using Google Analytics, SEO, website statistics and industry best practices.
  • Tracks and reports on social media engagement.
  • Maintain the necessary tracking for reporting on budget and spending for paid advertising.
  • Maintain and administer the email database for clarity, segmentation, and CASL
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, advertisers, and community contacts to maximize marketing efforts.
  • Administers access related to the WDM website, social media platforms, Google, Canva, etc.
Education And Experience

The position requires a relevant degree or diploma and a minimum 3 - 4 years of communication and marketing experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Exceptional communication skills is essential. Knowledge of social media trends, ad booking, content creation and Meta administration is required. Experience with content calendars and traditional media ad booking considered an asset.

Accountabilities
  • Marketing campaigns are timely, impactful, and aligned with WDM brand standards.
  • Campaign metrics are monitored and adjusted as needed to meet goals.
  • Website and social media accounts are maintained and secure.
  • High-quality external content is delivered to WDM audiences. Designs are visually compelling and on brand.
  • Uniformity of content and messaging is in alignment with WDM brand guidelines across all marketing and communication channels.
  • Remains current on the latest marketing and communication trends and best practices.
  • Metrics are monitored to evaluate marketing and communication initiatives. They are routinely collected and analysed to identify timely improvements and necessary changes to meet campaign goals.
  • Administrative aspects of the positions involving budgets and purchasing is fulfilled.
  • Strong ties exist with the four Museums in support of content generation and dissemination.
  • Willing to take direction from supervisors and they receive relevant and timely information as per established procedures.
  • Staff receive the assistance they need to deliver services under tight timelines as requested.
  • Positive and professional relationships and communications with internal and external contacts essential to performing the position’s duties are established and maintained.
  • Staff, volunteer, visitor, and public observations regarding the incumbent are positive and appreciative.
  • The incumbent’s work areas are maintained in a professional and organized manner.
  • Occupational health and safety requirements are maintained.
  • Policies, procedures, laws and regulations relevant to the position are followed.
  • Appropriately allocates resources to meet Museum needs within area of responsibility.
Job Scope

Applies knowledge and experience to design, develop and deliver marketing and communication campaigns. Planning and delivery of job requirements often involves coordination with others. May provide input into the development of policies and procedures. Work is self-determined and assigned in terms of objectives, budget and schedule limitations, and critical areas that impact other departments. Reviews own and others’ work, prepares reports, content, advertising, marketing materials, proposals and submissions. Interactions require the skill to deal with a range of people and situations. May lead project teams or groups in the delivery of online content. Shares confidential information appropriately.

Effort

Works with a large and diverse group of people. Builds and maintains relationships and partnerships that are key to success in the position. Deals with fixed deadlines and large volumes of work. Work can measurably affect several functions within the Museum and many problems are addressed through solutions involving a variety of possible approaches where outcomes are unknown. This may cause moderate stress.

Working Conditions

The incumbent works in an office environment. May require long periods at a desk and computer screen. Travel throughout Saskatchewan may be required. Evening and weekend work may be required.
