Job Description:

This is an 18-month contract position

As our Marketing Copywriter, Advisor Sales & Marketing Support, you will be responsible for building authentic conversations between advisors and prospects, Clients and communities with engaging and innovative content across various digital and print platforms.

You are a solid copywriter, well versed in trending styles. You have a keen sense of emotional storytelling. Using your strengths in relevant and high-impact digital content authoring, you’re obsessively compelled to drive engagement.

You will work with advisors and sales leaders across Canada to understand their value propositions, target audiences and business objectives to help elevate their marketing.

You thrive in a fast-paced creative environment, like to work in consultation with partners and advisors, are bold, resilient, open to collaboration and are an expert in digital content marketing best practices.

The Marketing Copywriter reports to the Manager, Content, Advisor Sales & Marketing Support within Retail Advice & Solutions. The Advisor Sales & Marketing Support team is accountable for defining, designing and delivering marketing programs. We help position Sun Life advisors’ distinctive value propositions for targeting Clients and driving leads, sales and Client engagement. And we engage independent advisors to choose to place business with Sun Life.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with designers, strategy teams and subject matter experts to write content that influences audiences across different media, including targeted email, web, social and video.
  • Deliver content that helps advisors across Canada connect with and earn Clients by writing and editing their personalized marketing tactics.
  • Copywrite to consistently capture the Sun Life brand voice that is “relentlessly human” as well as relatable, simple and clever.
  • Create benefit-oriented, compliant and error-free work that adheres to Canadian Press style as well as UX and behaviour economics principles.
  • Identify new content opportunities that stand out from competitors and align with content calendar activities — to deliver powerful, relevant and cohesive storytelling across all channels.
  • Test and learn to effectively optimize marketing performance through innovative nurture and drip campaigns, A/B testing, segmentation and audience targeting.
  • Champion advisor and Client marketing and sales approaches and recommend new ways to achieve business and marketing objectives.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Excellent copywriting abilities and marketing or sales experience to create and execute marketing or sales programs as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to take advanced industry concepts and distill them into simple, engaging and relatable content.
  • Take bold initiative by driving action and generating innovative solutions that enhance the team’s ability to meet its goals.
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work while executing on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to constantly evolving business and Client priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: must be able to consult, influence, negotiate and build trust with people from diverse backgrounds and levels throughout the organization.

What will be nice to have?

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, journalism or communication-related field or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in marketing promotions roles with copywriting experience.
  • Proven experience creating content for social (organic and paid), web and email.
  • Thorough understanding of social media platforms, including advertising, and how they support other digital marketing efforts.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
