Job Description

Job Summary

The incumbent is a professional responsible for coordinating the development and design of promotional materials to raise awareness and support the marketing and public relations teams. This includes creating messaging strategies, managing online and offline promotional content, and overseeing social media channels.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support creation and distribution of marketing assets to enhance The Salvation Army’s public image locally and divisional levels.
  • Develop and maintain relationships within the division, sharing tools to increase organizational awareness.
  • Draft and edit content for various platforms including articles, social media, websites, campaigns, reports, and scripts.
  • Manage divisional social media accounts : posting updates, monitoring engagement, and responding to inquiries.
  • Create and maintain a content calendar aligned with key events (e.g., Giving Tuesday) to ensure timely social media activity.
  • Monitor analytics and produce monthly reports with insights for leadership.
  • Collaborate with departments and ministry units on communication strategies and content planning.
  • Work with social media influencers and partners to ensure consistent branding and messaging.
  • Participate in event coverage, providing social media and media support, including audiovisual and webcast coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, copyright laws, and proper documentation, including release forms.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2-3 year college diploma in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • Knowledge of OH&S Act, regulations, and adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered, especially in supporting content creation and distribution across platforms.
  • Experience in managing digital and print media, including social media posts, articles, videos, and reports, with a focus on brand voice and messaging.
  • Experience managing social media operations : scheduling, engagement monitoring, responding, and analyzing KPIs.
  • Ability to develop content calendars for key events and provide real-time event coverage.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to plan communication strategies, ensuring messaging consistency and reputation management.
  • Assist with media resource development, audiovisual production, webcast support, and event communication planning.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and ensure proper documentation.
  • Strong understanding of The Salvation Army’s mission, with the ability to incorporate this into all communications.
  • Excellent communication, time management, storytelling skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

The target salary range is $44,685.33 to $55,856.66, with a maximum of $67,027.99. Salary placement depends on market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications. Reasonable accommodations are available upon request; contact [emailprotected] .
