Job duties:

  • Draft surveys prior to and upon completion of cargo loading/discharging.
  • Perform hold inspections prior to cargo loading ensuring cleanliness of cargo holds.
  • Provide advice on hold preparation for bulk cargo loading with familiarity in CFIA cleanliness standards for grain loading.
  • Cargo supervision during operations to monitor the quality and quantity of cargo loaded.
  • Perform damage assessments of vessel and cargo for parties.
  • Conduct bunker surveys prior to and upon completion of stemming bunkers.
  • Survey the condition of a vessel’s hull, deck, and cargo spaces.
  • Daily reporting and report writing of particulars acquired during operation attendances.

Terms of employment: Permanent and full-time.

The language of work: English.

Wage: $46.97 per hour – annual raises dependent on performance.

Location of work: Prince Rupert, BC.

Skills requirements:

Required education:

  • Foreign Going Class 1 Master Mariner, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.

Required work experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in marine surveying or a related maritime profession.
  • Strong knowledge of Transport Canada bulk cargo regulations.
  • Proficiency in preparing clear and detailed technical reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in both the Microsoft and Google office suites.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel as required.
