Job summary

Matchtech Group in Canada is seeking a Marine Automation Specialist to lead the design, development, integration, and testing of the Coast Guard's future fleet program. You will ensure CMS compliance and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams.

Responsibilities include reviewing engineering drawings, supporting ship construction, managing I/O lists, FAT participation, and ensuring compliance with IMO, Transport Canada and classification society rules. Bilingual English/French required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in marine electrical engineering or related field.
  • Experience with rules of classification societies and flag states.
  • Familiarity with the implementation of new technologies would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a shipyard is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to complete multiple, complex, detail-oriented tasks and projects on time.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). Fluency in English is required for this position, as you will interact with English-speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients.

  • Ensure the ship's automated systems are fit for purpose and can function continuously.
  • Liaise directly with vendors to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Engage with all technical disciplines to ensure functional alignment and sequencing deliver the expected performance of automated systems.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) as required.
  • Manage the input/output (I/O) list for automated systems.
  • Support ship acceptance and commissioning.

As the Marine Automation Specialist, will support the design, development, integration, and testing of the Canadian Coast Guard's future fleet of six Program Icebreakers. This role will lead structural design efforts and support ship construction. More specifically you will:
