Job summary

Davie is seeking a Systems Specialist to support the Canadian Coast Guard’s future fleet of six Program Icebreakers. You will lead systems engineering and change management efforts, coordinating with vendors and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test robust solutions.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, 5+ years in marine engineering or ship design, and bilingual English/French communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the field of marine engineering or ship design.
  • Experience with rules and regulations of classification societies and flag states.
  • Experience in a shipyard is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple complex tasks and projects on time.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken); English fluency required to interact with English-speaking suppliers and stakeholders.

  • Implement and lead a robust change management culture.
  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of engineering solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Corporate Management System (CMS), safety regulations, and best practices.
  • Review and support subcontractor design work.
  • Lead and facilitate the review, approval, and prioritization of change requests.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards, including the rules and regulations of classification societies, IMO, and Transport Canada.
  • Liaise directly with vendors to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Engage with all technical disciplines to ensure effective management of technical changes.
