Position Summary

MSCP Heat Management Solutions is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Quality Manager to build, lead and continuously improve the quality function within our manufacturing operations.

This position owns the manufacturing quality framework and is responsible for translating engineering, customer, regulatory and certification requirements into practical shop-floor controls. The Manufacturing Quality Manager will ensure materials, work in process and finished products meet applicable requirements before release.

Working independently from production while collaborating closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement and Operations, this role will serve as MSCP’s primary manufacturing quality representative with clients, suppliers, auditors and certification bodies.

This is a hands-on leadership position. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing quality systems and procedures, working directly on the manufacturing floor, conducting inspections and testing, investigating non-conformances and representing MSCP during client inspections and audits.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management & Systems

Build, implement, maintain and continuously improve MSCP’s manufacturing quality framework.

Develop quality plans, inspection and test plans, procedures, checklists, acceptance criteria, hold points and product-release controls.

Translate approved drawings, specifications, bills of material, purchase orders, customer requirements and certification requirements into practical inspection and testing requirements.

Establish appropriate quality controls throughout receiving, fabrication, assembly, testing and final product release.

Maintain complete, accurate and audit-ready quality documentation and records.

Monitor quality performance and identify opportunities to reduce defects, rework, variation and recurring failures.

Inspection, Testing & Product Release

Perform and oversee receiving, first-piece, in-process, final and pre-shipment inspections.

Read and interpret engineered drawings, shop drawings, electrical schematics, bills of material, specifications and manufacturing tolerances.

Verify materials, dimensions, fabrication, welding, wiring, labelling, workmanship, traceability and finished-product requirements.

Perform or oversee dimensional, electrical and functional testing using appropriate inspection and test equipment.

Establish and maintain documented acceptance limits and testing requirements.

Manage calibration and verification requirements for inspection and test equipment, including accuracy, resolution, range and detection limits.

Maintain independent authority to place materials, work in process or finished products on hold and prevent release where requirements have not been satisfied.

Ensure objective evidence exists to support final product acceptance and release.

Non-Conformance & Corrective Action

Own MSCP’s manufacturing non-conformance, containment, root-cause and corrective-action processes.

Investigate quality failures and recurring issues using structured problem-solving and root-cause methodologies.

Coordinate corrective actions with Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement and suppliers.

Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions before closure.

Identify systemic causes of defects and implement controls that prevent recurrence.

Escalate design changes, engineering dispositions and technical deviations to the responsible engineering authority.

Establish supplier quality expectations and inspection requirements.

Conduct supplier and incoming-material inspections and audits as required.

Monitor supplier quality performance, recurring deficiencies and corrective actions.

Work with Procurement and suppliers to resolve material and component quality issues.

Ensure required material certifications, traceability documentation and supplier records are obtained and maintained.

Client, Audit & Certification Support

Serve as MSCP’s designated manufacturing quality representative with clients, suppliers, auditors and certification bodies.

Lead and coordinate client inspections, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and quality-related meetings.

Support certification-body, client and internal audits.

Coordinate MSCP’s response to manufacturing quality concerns and findings.

Communicate inspection results, non-conformances, corrective actions and quality requirements clearly and professionally.

Support compliance with applicable CSA, UL, Intertek/ETL and customer-specific requirements.

Establish clear quality expectations across the manufacturing operation.

Train and coach manufacturing personnel on inspection requirements, workmanship standards, documentation and quality procedures.

Promote quality at the source rather than reliance on final inspection.

Develop quality metrics and provide visibility into defects, NCRs, rework, supplier performance and recurring issues.

Apply continuous-improvement methodologies to improve manufacturing quality, reliability and flow.

Work collaboratively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Operations and other functions while maintaining the independence required to make objective quality decisions.

Support the development of future quality personnel as MSCP’s manufacturing operations grow.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in engineering technology, manufacturing, quality, electrical, mechanical or another related technical discipline.

Minimum five years of progressive QA/QC experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated experience developing and implementing manufacturing quality systems, inspection plans, procedures and records.

Strong ability to interpret engineered drawings, shop drawings, electrical schematics, bills of material and technical specifications.

Working knowledge of manufacturing tolerances, dimensional inspection, material traceability and workmanship standards.

Experience conducting receiving, in-process, final and supplier inspections.

Experience with electrical and functional testing and the safe selection and use of appropriate test equipment.

Understanding of measurement accuracy, resolution, testing range, detection limits and calibration requirements.

Experience managing non-conformances, root-cause investigations, corrective actions and effectiveness reviews.

Strong technical-writing, documentation and record-control skills.

Demonstrated ability to make independent quality decisions and prevent the release of non-conforming products.

Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, auditors, suppliers, engineers and manufacturing personnel.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic quality or document-management systems.

Comfortable working within a digital and paperless manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or similar designation.

Internal-auditor or lead-auditor training.

Experience with industrial electrical equipment, control panels, enclosures, electrical heat-tracing systems or heater assemblies.

Familiarity with CSA, UL and Intertek/ETL certification requirements.

Experience with sheet-metal fabrication, stainless steel, welding, electrical wiring and industrial assembly.

Experience developing or significantly improving a manufacturing Quality Management System.

Experience leading Factory Acceptance Testing and customer inspections.

Experience using Procore or similar digital quality/document-management platforms.

Familiarity with Deming/PDSA, Statistical Process Control, Theory of Constraints, Lean, Six Sigma or other structured continuous-improvement methodologies.

Registration with APEGA as an EIT or P.Eng. is considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Expectations

The Manufacturing Quality Manager must be comfortable dividing their time between the manufacturing floor, inspection and testing activities, quality-system development, technical documentation and client-facing responsibilities.

This role requires an individual who is willing to personally perform inspections and testing while simultaneously developing the systems, processes and capabilities required to scale MSCP’s manufacturing quality function.

The successful candidate will be organized, technically capable and decisive, with the confidence to challenge established practices constructively and defend quality decisions using objective evidence.

Above all, the Manufacturing Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that quality requirements are understood, verified and satisfied before MSCP manufactured products are released to the customer.
