Job summary

MRO Electronics is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our Aerospace Manufacturing team in Calgary. You will ensure processes, products, and components meet stringent aerospace quality standards and align with our certifications.

Key duties include developing QMS, leading inspections and audits, conducting root-cause analyses (8D, FMEA), and driving Lean/Six Sigma initiatives. Collaboration with suppliers and training of staff are also essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of quality engineering experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing.
  • ASQ Certification (CQE or CQA) preferred; Six Sigma Green/Black Belt a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain quality standards, control plans, and QMS compliant with AS9100D and ISO 9001.
  • Oversee inspections, tests, and audits to ensure compliance with aerospace standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, FMEA, and Six Sigma.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality requirements and perform audits.
  • Drive Lean and Six Sigma projects to improve quality and reduce defects.
  • Document procedures, prepare quality reports, ensure traceability and regulatory compliance.

Job Title: Quality Engineer – Aerospace Manufacturing

Reports to: Quality Manager

Job Summary:

MRO is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our Aerospace Manufacturing team. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing processes, products, and components meet rigorous quality standards specific to the aerospace industry, and in alignment with our Aerospace certifications. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement in product quality and production efficiency. This role will also be instrumental in setting up, and certification of, our clean room.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance & Control: Develop and maintain quality standards, control plans, and quality management systems (QMS) that comply with AS9100D and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Inspection and Testing: Oversee and conduct inspections, tests, and audits of products, processes, and systems to ensure compliance with aerospace quality and regulatory standards.
  • Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for any quality-related issues, employing methodologies such as 8D, FMEA, and Six Sigma.
  • Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality requirements for their products and conduct audits to ensure alignment with company standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and Six Sigma projects, to enhance product quality and reduce defects.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Document quality procedures, prepare detailed quality reports, and ensure traceability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Training & Support: Train production staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices to maintain a culture of quality and accountability. Develop further in-house training programs for future manufacturing capabilities.
  • Customer Support: Address customer quality complaints and collaborate with the engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues promptly.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 4+ years of quality engineering experience in the aerospace or a similar high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Certification: ASQ Certification (CQE or CQA) is preferred. Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of AS9100D, ISO 9001, and other aerospace industry standards.
    • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), GD&T, and quality inspection tools.
    • Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, FMEA).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and attention-to-detail abilities.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects at once, in a collaborative environment.
  • Hiring Requirements:
    • Must be able to pass a background check suitable for employment with Controlled Goods.
    • May be required to submit for other background checks including: credit, criminal, or other.
