Job summary

Sandvik Mining, Ground Support Division in Canada is seeking a Production Operator to join our manufacturing team responsible for setup, calibration and operation of production machinery.

You will follow procedures for conventional and CNC equipment, measure materials, resolve issues, and maintain safety and housekeeping while contributing to the production of components in a high‑volume setting. Saskatchewan-based role with shift work and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions.
  • Good mathematical skills and ability to read a tape measure.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate machines in production processes.
  • Follow procedures for conventional and CNC equipment.
  • Select raw materials and parts to specifications for production processing.
  • Inspect machining operations and finished components against tolerances with precision tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping (5S) in the workplace.
  • Contribute to general labour tasks as required.

Production Operator

Currently we have an opening for a Production Operator. This position is responsible for the production operations, including assembly, machinery, processing and/or packaging.

What you will be doing
  • Under general direction, responsible for the setup, calibration, and operation of machines used in production processes.
  • Follows established procedures for operating various conventional and/or CNC (computerized numerical control) manufacturing equipment.
  • Selects and measures raw materials and parts to specifications to prepare for production processing.
  • Resolves issues related to the organization's production, machinery, processing and/or packaging operations.
  • Inspects machining operations and finished product against specified tolerances using precision measuring tools.
  • Determines and corrects minor machine malfunctions and performs simple routine maintenance and cleaning.
  • Safety and housekeeping (5S) requirements. Contribute to the manufacturing of components and finished.
  • General labour.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Environmental Health and Safety
  • Comply with safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.
  • Maintain orderly work area and ensure housekeeping requirements are met.
  • Attend Environmental, Health and Safety related trainings.
  • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) assigned for each task.
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
  • Previous related experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively using the spoken word in English
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions provided in written or drawing form
  • Good mathematical skills, ability to accurately read/understand a tape measure (metric/standard)
  • Understanding of common workplace safety and environment practices
  • Ability to meet attendance/punctuality requirements
  • Ability to work shift-work
  • Physical ability to continually handle objects weighing up to 20 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate forklift would be an asset.
Education:
  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
