Job summary

Sandvik Mining, Ground Support Division in Canada is seeking a Production Operator to join our team. You will contribute to assembly, machinery operation, processing and packaging within our manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions and drawings.
  • Good mathematical skills and accurate tape measure reading.
  • Demonstrated attendance and punctuality; able to work shifts.
  • Experience in production/manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate and operate machines in production processes.
  • Follow procedures for operating CNC and conventional equipment.
  • Select and measure raw materials to specifications for production.
  • Identify and resolve minor machine malfunctions and perform routine maintenance.
  • Inspect finished parts against tolerances using precision tools.
  • Maintain safety and 5S housekeeping and participate in general labour.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Production Operator

Currently we have an opening for a Production Operator. This position is responsible for the production operations, including assembly, machinery, processing and/or packaging.

What you will be doing
  • Under general direction, responsible for the setup, calibration, and operation of machines used in production processes.
  • Follows established procedures for operating various conventional and/or CNC (computerized numerical control) manufacturing equipment.
  • Selects and measures raw materials and parts to specifications to prepare for production processing.
  • Resolves issues related to the organization's production, machinery, processing and/or packaging operations.
  • Inspects machining operations and finished product against specified tolerances using precision measuring tools.
  • Determines and corrects minor machine malfunctions and performs simple routine maintenance and cleaning.
  • Safety and housekeeping (5S) requirements. Contribute to the manufacturing of components and finished.
  • General labour.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Environmental Health and Safety
  • Comply with safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.
  • Maintain orderly work area and ensure housekeeping requirements are met.
  • Attend Environmental, Health and Safety related trainings.
  • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) assigned for each task.
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
  • Previous related experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively using the spoken word in English
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions provided in written or drawing form
  • Good mathematical skills, ability to accurately read/understand a tape measure (metric/standard)
  • Understanding of common workplace safety and environment practices
  • Ability to meet attendance/punctuality requirements
  • Ability to work shift-work
  • Physical ability to continually handle objects weighing up to 20 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate forklift would be an asset.
Education:
  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
