Job summary

The People Co. is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our growing team in Mississauga, Canada.

This role focuses on leading CAPEX projects, developing engineering solutions to improve efficiency and reliability, and collaborating with Production, Maintenance, and Quality to sustain high safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates have 7+ years in high-speed CPG manufacturing, strong leadership, and experience with Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen methodologies.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a Project Engineer in high-speed CPG manufacturing.
  • Experience with Process Improvement Methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, etc.)
  • BA, Engineering or related discipline is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development and delivery of the CAPEX Master Plan.
  • Lead medium to large-scale capital and technical projects across the manufacturing operations.
  • Manage projects through planning, design, budgeting, procurement, installation, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Develop engineering solutions that improve manufacturing efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and equipment reliability.
  • Coordinate contractor management and project execution.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, risks, and KPIs while providing regular status updates to stakeholders.
  • Apply structured project management methodologies and reporting practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable engineering standards, food safety requirements, regulatory requirements, and company specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Maintenance, Quality, Sanitation, and Supply Chain.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce operational costs.
  • Perform engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigations to resolve technical issues and improve equipment performance.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to support knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of preventive maintenance and long-term asset management strategies.
  • Continuously develop technical expertise and contribute to engineering best practices.

What You Will Do:

Education and Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Project Engineer in a high speed CPG manufacturing.
  • Experience with Process Improvement Methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen etc.)
  • BA, Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to develop a positive safety culture within the team.
  • Hands on commissioning/ new equipment installation.
  • Experience in Food Processing environments ideal.
