Job summary

Blackline Safety is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer (maternity leave coverage) to drive process improvements across multiple manufacturing lines. You will partner with Product Development, Quality, and other teams to analyze issues, implement changes, and standardize processes, while supporting new product launches.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
  • Experience with manufacturing line design, operations project management, and new product launches.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Excellent English communication, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a champion for continuous improvement to increase yield, throughput, and productivity across manufacturing lines.
  • Perform root-cause analyses with Product Development, Quality and other disciplines; ensure issue resolution.
  • Create procedures to standardize manufacturing operations and document processes.
  • Coordinate engineering changes in production and implement design changes.
  • Develop or source fixturing, tools, and equipment for manufacturing tasks.
  • Conduct time studies and audits to identify gaps and drive process improvements.
  • Prepare manufacturing process readiness for new product introductions.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer plays a key part in driving new product delivery, maintaining the operational gains achieved through continuous improvement, and in accelerating continuous improvement projects. From assisting with our circuit board manufacturing all the way though to manufacturing and service, the Manufacturing Process Engineer works with multiple disciplines and be focused on the daily productivity improvement activities required to sustain rapid growth and support new products.

Please note that this role is to cover for a maternity leave.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a champion for continuous improvement activities to increase yield, throughput, and productivity in multiple manufacturing lines, and own their ongoing technical health
  • Engage with Product Development, Quality and other disciplines to complete root-cause analyses of issues in product or process and ensure resolution
  • Create documentation, procedures, and design processes to standardize manufacturing operations
  • Coordinate the implementation of engineering changes in production
  • Develop or source fixturing, tools, and other equipment to aid in manufacturing tasks
  • Complete time studies and manufacturing process line design audits identify gaps from standards and drive process improvement opportunities
  • Drive manufacturing process readiness for new product introduction launches
About You
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field)
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in manufacturing or process engineering
  • Experience in manufacturing line design, operations project management, and new product launches
  • Excellent mechanical, electronics, and process troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with gas detection, PCBA manufacturing, injection molding, radio technologies, gas detection, and metalwork are all assets
  • Data acquisition and analysis experience using databases is an asset (MySQL, Power BI)
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD tools
  • Ability to rapidly prioritize and balance conflicting priorities
  • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment and Six Sigma certification
  • Exceptional ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing
Safety Shoe Requirement

This position requires the use of CSA Grade 1 toe protection safety footwear. Applicants must have access to a pair of safety footwear that meets this requirement prior to starting employment.
