Job Description

We are seeking a high energy, hands-on Manager of Manufacturing Engineering to deliver a comprehensive maintenance systems program, lead manufacturing engineering projects, and set priorities across the site for new processes, equipment, and materials.

Summary

Provides organizational and technical leadership to the site Manufacturing Engineering Organization. Plans, organizes and directs the development of processes, tools and new and existing products. Establishes, implements, and supports manufacturing processes and equipment from concept development through implementation to ensure the success and longevity of production processes. Directs and oversees the site machine and equipment maintenance department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop and mentor Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Lead and cultivate a continuous improvement culture within the engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Plan, organize, and direct technical work concerning new or existing products and / or processes.
  • Oversee and direct new products implementation.
  • Support customer timing and quality in launching new products related to equipment, tools, and processes.
  • Oversee and maintain all processes in production.
  • Support corporate initiatives such as Level, LEED, ISO, and Smart certifications.
  • Research, recommend, or implement strategic changes to improve process capability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in process, product, and equipment cost analysis.

Required Skills

  • Working knowledge of Toyota Production System is a plus.
  • Experience in a lean environment.
  • Knowledge of change management dynamics.
  • System thinking.
  • Team player with leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize goals.
  • Leadership experience in previous roles.
  • Ability to deliver key metrics and manage capital budgets.
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 / 9001 is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
  • 10-15 years of experience in manufacturing or mechanical engineering with Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in continuous improvement activities using tools like kaizen, mistake proofing, standard work, problem solving, pull systems, 5S, setup reduction, TPM, etc.
