Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, with a focus on the machining and assembly of custom machinery. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the manufacturability of complex designs, providing technical leadership in machining and assembly, and continuously improving production efficiency, quality, and safety.
Job Duties
- Lead the optimization of existing manufacturing processes for custom machinery, focusing on machining, fabrication, and assembly.
- Collaborate with product design teams to evaluate designs for manufacturability and provide feedback for design improvements.
- Develop detailed manufacturing plans, including the selection of equipment, tools, and materials, to ensure production efficiency and quality.
- Continuously assess and improve processes, leveraging lean manufacturing principles and best practices to reduce costs and cycle times.
- Provide advanced technical expertise in machining processes, including CNC programming, turning, milling, grinding, and other fabrication methods.
- Troubleshoot complex machining issues, collaborating with operators to resolve problems and improve operational efficiency.
- Oversee the setup, calibration, and maintenance of machinery to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
- Work with the tool and die team to ensure tooling meets production requirements and is optimized for high-quality manufacturing.
- Drive improvements in assembly operations by developing efficient, cost-effective processes and providing technical guidance to assembly teams.
- Evaluate assembly methods, recommend changes, and implement new techniques to improve productivity, reduce errors, and enhance product quality.
- Ensure all manufacturing processes adhere to established quality standards by working closely with quality control teams.
- Lead initiatives for root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures to resolve recurring production issues.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure the smooth execution of production schedules and resource planning.
- Monitor project progress, identify roadblocks, and provide solutions to maintain timelines and product quality.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior manufacturing engineers and production staff, providing guidance on complex manufacturing issues and process improvements.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment to achieve engineering and production goals.
- Collaborate with the tooling department to design and develop custom tools and fixtures that improve manufacturing efficiency and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues that may affect production quality or downtime.
- Ensure manufacturing operations comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
Job Requirements (Education, Knowledge & Skill)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on custom machinery, machining, tool and die, and assembly processes.
- In-depth knowledge of machining processes, including CNC operations, turning, milling, grinding, and assembly techniques.
- Proven experience in manufacturability analysis and design for manufacturability.
- Knowledge of raw material properties and heat treatment applications.
- Strong understanding of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and dies, with hands-on experience in tool and die development and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
