This role will lead the development of the Marketing Data Science and Analytics strategy, link the strategy with actionable roadmaps that facilitate the needs of the individual Groups/Services while establishing common capabilities that service the Bank. The role will accelerate our Marketing partners’ predictive DnA journey from insights to fully operational AI/ML-based solutions, enable simplification and a digital-first paradigm based on predictive DnA approaches (AI, ML), and be a trusted advisor to stakeholders on data science and analytics activities. The role will partner with CMOs, MCSI CDAO, Operational Group/Service leaders, and LOB DnA teams to unpack their strategic objectives, lead execution on Data Science and Analytics capabilities, and manage operational delivery of outcomes.

  1. Develop data-driven insights on valuable opportunities with Marketing and business partners.
  2. Develop and test model-based proof of concepts and prototypes to assess feasibility and value-creation potential.
  3. Leverage advanced analytics/AI to support marketing strategy, drive acquisition, develop data science capabilities, and enhance marketing effectiveness and reporting.
  4. Provide expertise in deploying capabilities like Google Marketing, value-based bidding models, and integrating marketing campaign data with business data.
  5. Develop, implement, and deploy AI/ML-based solutions in collaboration with business, Risk, and Technology partners.
  6. Provide expertise in data engineering, curation, and integration to support analytics and insights delivery.
  7. Offer trusted advisory services to internal partners on initiatives.
  8. Represent BMO Financial Group in external Data Science & Analytics partnerships and forums.
  9. Innovate using internal and external datasets to derive insights with AI/ML, and prototype solutions.
  10. Stay updated on industry trends and provide insights on best practices.
  11. Collaborate across domains and organizations to shape solutions from ideation to delivery.
  12. Provide expertise on statistical and mathematical concepts to help evolve the business into a data-driven culture.
  13. Lead a high-performing team of ~20 digital marketing and analytics experts, developing leaders and fostering a culture of high performance.
  14. Mentor and develop the Data Science and Analytics Practice across geographies.
  15. Partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit and evaluate talent, investing in organizational capabilities.
  16. Promote and support the Bank’s risk culture, ensuring compliance with risk and regulatory requirements.
  17. Drive simplicity and productivity improvements across groups.
  18. Foster a culture aligned with Purpose, engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  19. Develop leaders, plan for succession, and drive talent retention.
  20. Lead and mentor a diverse team, promoting customer focus and strategic alignment.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related; advanced degree preferred.
  • Min 10 years of progressive experience in Marketing, IT, or related fields, including leadership roles.
  • At least 5 years hands-on data science experience and managing data science teams.
  • Expertise in Marketing Technology platforms, coding languages (SQL, SAS, Python, R, Unix), and marketing tools (Salesforce, Marketo, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
  • Experience with marketing measurement solutions such as MMM, Multi-Touch Attribution, and in a cookieless marketing environment.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills, experience with supervised/unsupervised learning, data engineering, and statistical programming.
  • Comfort with AWS-EMR, Hadoop ecosystems, and cross-domain problem solving.
  • Experience in startup environments and with external clients is a plus.
Target salary range: $190,000 - $215,000 CDN.
