Managing Director, Credit, Capital Markets page is loaded
We are seeking a Managing Director to be a senior member of the North American Private Credit business, driving the strategy and business development of the team. They will be responsible for origination, structuring, underwriting and leading corporate credit investments across the capital structure. They will be accountable for continuing to build and manage a broader credit portfolio and provide leadership to the team on a day-to-day basis.
The Managing Director will report to the Global Head of Private Credit (based in London) and lead a team of ~7 credit professionals based in Toronto. The broader global credit team consists of ~40 professionals across London and Toronto. The incumbent will leverage OTPP’s internal and external networks to assess opportunities across North America.
Drive investment activity in North America across a broad range of credit opportunities
Filter and evaluate best relative value and risk adjusted returns across a broad range of investment opportunities across the capital structure and across public and private markets
Deliver and oversee: i) idea generation/origination, ii) investment / due diligence, iii) negotiate legal documentation, iv) fundamental credit underwriting, v) portfolio management
Develop strategic direction and footprint of the private credit business in North America
Build relationships with banks, sponsors, advisors, etc to establish a broad origination funnel across single name credit opportunities
Build effective partnerships across the fund and the Capital Markets department
Support the activities of the team for the portfolio to achieve significant returns over and above our credit benchmarks (High Yield and Leveraged Loans), while managing to a similar risk, thus producing superior risk adjusted returns
Provide leadership and management of the private credit team, which currently consists of 2 senior and 5 junior staff.
12+ years of experience, with focus on fundamental credit investing
Proven risk-taking track record
Experience applying and overseeing the application of a range of credit strategies to build and manage a diversified portfolio producing superior long term absolute and risk adjusted returns
Deep understanding of the complexity and sophistication of the competitive landscape in credit markets.
Extensive knowledge of originating and structuring credit investments
University Degree or Equivalent in Finance or related field
Experience with managing junior talent
