Our Burlington and Hamilton offices have an immediate opening for full-time Tax Managers. Reporting to Partners and Senior Managers, you will be responsible for:

  1. Final review of tax compliance, including tax returns for individuals, corporations, trusts, and partnerships, and related foreign reporting requirements;
  2. Leading and directing tax planning engagements and preparing technical tax memos;
  3. Reviewing instruction letters for corporate reorganizations, estate & post-mortem tax planning, business succession planning, and purchase & sale of a business;
  4. Conducting tax research and interpreting legislation to suggest proactive solutions to clients and senior staff;
  5. Bringing significant issues or findings to the attention of senior management, along with recommendations;
  6. Delegating tasks and managing their completion within quality and client service standards;
  7. Corresponding with Canada Revenue Agency and provincial ministries on client issues;
  8. Acting as a technical resource and mentoring staff;
  9. Participating in client meetings to discuss schedules, technical issues, and recommendations;
  10. Managing billings and recoverability on tax engagements.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience in public practice, with at least two specializing in taxation;
  • Canadian CPA Designation (CPA, CA);
  • Willingness to enroll or current enrollment in the CPA In-Depth Tax Course or completion of the MTax program;
  • Thorough understanding of Canadian income taxation, with tax planning experience as an asset;
  • Eagerness to learn and gain experience in a broad range of tax concepts.
