Job summary

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Senior Supply Chain Manager for the Supply & Distribution Centre to lead end-to-end operations within a healthcare setting. The role focuses on strategic planning, budgeting, staff leadership, and ensuring efficient material flow.

Applicants should have healthcare logistics experience, SAP ERP proficiency, and a track record of improving service levels while maintaining safety and compliance. In-person, 1.0 FTE, daytime shift.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Minimum three years recent related Supply Chain Management experience at a management level.
  • Five years’ experience with or in Supply Chain Related organization or department.
  • Must be knowledgeable of materiel management systems and procedures, transportation equipment, traffic management procedures and control and distribution methods.
  • Must have, or be able to acquire within a reasonable period of time, a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and regulations applicable to the area of supervision.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills required.
  • Financial experience including preparing capital and operating budgets required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, Transport or Logistics related field.

SPECIAL TRAINING:

  • Experience of ERP systems (SAP), Healthcare Supply Chain Management would an asset.
  • Ability to manage logistics of all aspects of supply chain, from cross-dock, receiving, warehouse, the last mile delivery/shipment of medical products.
  • Understanding of accounting or finance, human resources and union relationships and collective agreements would be highly desired.
  • Knowledge for Six Sigma Lean Processes would consider as an asset.
  • Awareness of upcoming and disruptive technologies to increase the service and achieve efficiencies is necessary.
  • Must be able to comprehend legal documents; i.e. BOL, Manifests, Material data/safety sheets.
  • Strong communication skills and the desire to build lasting relationships with people all over the site, region, province, nationally and internationally.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) required.
  • Must complete recognized Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training and participate in relevant seminars and on the job training on the electronic Material Management system.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Upon the commencement of the job must be able to obtain certificate on hazardous waste handling and Transport; Trainer’s Certificate of Operation for tow tractors and power jacks under probationary period.

  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • As Supply and Distribution Services is a custodian of the Health Sciences Centre’s (HSC) goods, it is critical that the individual brings with them the qualities of honesty, integrity and accountability.
  • Ability for being a department ambassador and consensus builder while in site/regional/Provincial meetings.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to carry out the duties of the frontline staff as required.
  • May entail long periods of standing and walking.
  • Periodically requires pushing, reaching, pulling, bending, and lifting of heavy items or movement of carts.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your employee handbook.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
