Job summary

Peterborough Regional Health Centre in Ontario is seeking a Manager, Operating Room & Surgical Performance to provide strategic and operational leadership for the OR and perioperative initiatives. You will oversee resources to deliver safe, high-quality surgical services and drive performance analytics.

The role requires extensive experience in surgical services leadership, budgeting, and collaboration with surgeons and external partners.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in health administration or related field.
  • 3–5 years progressive leadership in surgical services.
  • Experience with budget management and capital planning.
  • Strong data analytics and performance management skills.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Health wait time strategies.
  • Experience with EPIC and healthcare information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, operational, clinical, and quality leadership for the Operating Room and related perioperative initiatives.
  • Lead operational planning, surgical utilization, wait time management, and performance analytics.
  • Act as liaison between surgical services staff, physicians, and external partners to optimize access and funding.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve OR utilization, wait times, and patient flow.

Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is a regional hospital delivering acute healthcare to a rapidly growing population of more than 300,000 in Peterborough and the surrounding communities, including the First Nations of Curve Lake, Hiawatha and Alderville.

HOURS OF WORK:

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The Manager, Operating Room & Surgical Performance provides strategic, operational, clinical, and quality leadership for the Operating Room and related perioperative initiatives. The Manager is accountable for the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered surgical services through effective management of human, financial, technological, and physical resources.

As a key member of the Surgical Services leadership team, the Manager leads operational planning, surgical utilization, quality improvement, wait time management, performance analytics, innovation, and program development. The position serves as the primary liaison between surgical services staff, physicians, Surgeon Office Managers (SOMs), Ontario Health, and external partners to optimize access, efficiency, quality outcomes, and funding opportunities.

The Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve operating room utilization, surgical wait times, quality outcomes, patient flow, and system performance while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, legislative requirements, and organizational priorities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Master's Degree in Health Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, Leadership, or related field preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years progressive leadership experience in surgical services, perioperative care or healthcare operations.
  • Experience leading quality improvement, utilization management, and change initiatives.
  • Experience with budget management, procurement, and capital planning.
  • Experience working with surgeons, physician office managers, and external healthcare stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Health wait time strategies, WTIS, SETP, NSQIP, and ONSQIN methodologies.
  • Strong data analytics and performance management skills.
  • Experience with EPIC and healthcare information systems.
  • Project management and change management expertise.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of collective agreements and labour relations principles.
  • Member of ORNAC preferred
