Job summary

Metrix Group Inc. in Toronto, ON is seeking a Manager, Medical Writing & Design Services to lead healthcare-focused projects, write and review scientific content, and manage client relationships.

This 12-month fixed-term role offers remote-first work and potential for extension, with compensation including profit-sharing bonuses. You will oversee project teams, mentor staff, and ensure deliverables meet client objectives and regulatory standards, while maintaining high-quality communications

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in the life sciences is required.
  • Minimum 5 years in a medical communications or medical marketing agency; experience coaching and managing people.
  • Expertise in project and client management is required.
  • Strong relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadlines.
  • Experience with design thinking and critical thinking.

Role Details

Work Location: Toronto, ON – Remote-First

Compensation: $46-48 per hour. This role is eligible to participate in our profit-sharing bonus program.

Reports to: VP, Innovation & Client Services

Employment Type: This is a 12-month full-time fixed-term employment contract role. Based on the project needs and other various factors, there is a strong possibility of extension.

Your Role

As Metrix continues to grow, we’re looking for someone to contribute to our client-facing medical writing team.

As a Manager, Medical Writing & Design Services, you’ll lead healthcare-focused projects, write, edit, and quality-review scientific content, and manage relationships with clients, vendors, and project teams. You’ll bring experience consulting with healthcare and pharmaceutical professionals, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence.

We’re looking for an experienced consultant and project manager who is passionate about clear, effective communication in an agency setting. You’re confident in managing projects from start to finish and have experience designing and developing complex deliverables.

With a strong client focus and commitment to excellence, you’ll help ensure our deliverables support each client’s objectives. You’ll also bring experience managing project team members and mentoring project teams.

You’ll be able to think on your feet, quickly learn new content areas, and bring a genuine passion for learning, training, and development.

What You’ll Be Doing
Account & Project Management
  • Understand and identify each client’s objectives, and consult with them to recommend solutions that will have impact
  • Contribute to growing accounts by identifying opportunities, supporting proposal development, and participating in sales presentations and referrals
  • Lead project team meetings both internally and externally
  • Work with clients and team members to identify and agree on project goals, roles, responsibilities, timelines, work effort and risk mitigation
  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and project-scope
  • Act as a single point of contact for project leader in client organization
  • Follow company best processes, practices and tools and support usage within the project team
Conduct Front-End Analysis
  • Conduct front-end analysis (target audience analysis, technology assessment, content-audit, etc…) and use results to design and develop client solutions
  • Conduct focus groups, subject-matter expert interviews, and/or develop a survey as part of your needs assessment when appropriate
Design & Develop Client Solutions
  • Manage your project team’s performance throughout the project (often managing multiple projects at a time)
  • Design and develop client solutions for a range of therapeutic areas and target audiences
  • Ensure referencing is complete to client and regulatory standards
  • Develop implementation and evaluation plans
  • Ensure overall quality of your work and the work of others in terms of accuracy, consistency, writing style and visual design
  • Interpret and incorporate feedback from colleagues and clients
Implement & Evaluate Learning, Training, Development Initiatives
  • Develop implementation plans and materials for launch and rollout
  • Develop the evaluation plan and tools for the project
Leadership, Coaching, and Collaboration
  • Mentor, coach, and inspire your direct project team reports, and peers
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Demonstrate visible commitment to Metrix’s mission, vision, values, and business goals
Your Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in the life sciences required
  • Minimum of 5 years in a medical communications or medical marketing agency; experience coaching and managing people
  • Expertise and experience in project and client management required
  • Relationship building skills; demonstrated history of building trust with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, and to work independently and collaborate in a high-performance team environment with demanding deadlines
  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking and Design Thinking practices
  • Experience working with or consulting to large or complex organizations
  • Demonstrated ability navigating ambiguity and problem-solving capabilities
