Job summary

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) seeks a senior professional to lead advocacy programs in aircraft maintenance operations. You will leverage Power BI and MIS data to drive performance improvement, develop industry guidance, and engage with ICAO, regulators and industry partners.

A highly collaborative role reporting to the Head, Aviation Supply Chain. Ideal candidates bring 15+ years in airline engineering/MRO/OEM environments, strong regulatory knowledge, and excellent English

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with a track record in aircraft maintenance management and strategic ops transformation.
  • 15+ years of experience including airline engineering and maintenance, and work at an MRO/Lessor/OEM in operational efficiency programs.
  • Extensive field practice and expertise in aviation regulatory frameworks (Part 145/21/66 – 65) from EASA/FAA and other authorities.
  • Strong track record in delivering operational performance transformation using Power BI and data analytics.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management across diverse organizations and cultures.
  • Experience organizing industry workshops and conferences.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong team player and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and steer aircraft maintenance operations advocacy programs and industry initiatives.
  • Provide SME in aircraft maintenance, engineering, maintenance planning, predictive maintenance and ops excellence.
  • Develop guidance materials and best practices for aircraft maintenance operations and MIS dashboards.
  • Support advocacy activities with ICAO, regulators and industry associations.
  • Represent the department at industry forums, workshops and conferences.
  • Drive maintenance performance improvement projects using data and benchmarking.
  • Support training programs and new ops initiatives for airline members.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop the aircraft maintenance ecosystem within IATA.

About the Team You Are Joining

The team is responsible for the development of Industry advocacy solutions, the roll‑out of global standards policies and initiatives related to aircraft Technical Operations and Supply Chain.

You will report to the Head, Aviation Supply Chain and you will drive maintenance‑related initiatives and industry engagement advocacy activities supporting airline operational excellence, reliability and efficiency with a focus on aircraft and equipment maintenance operations.

What Your Day Would Be Like
  • Develop and steer aircraft maintenance operations advocacy programs, working groups, taskforces and industry initiatives delivering value to airline members.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise in technical operations such as aircraft and equipment maintenance, engineering, maintenance planning, predictive maintenance, operational excellence, maintenance workforce capability initiatives, etc.
  • Develop guidance materials, position papers and industry best practices related to aircraft and equipment maintenance operations. Contribute to the continuous development of the IATA MRO SmartHub to deliver new platform features to help airlines with maintenance operations.
  • Support the department’s advocacy activities with ICAO, Regulators and industry associations on maintenance, regulatory and aircraft operational matters.
  • Represent the department at industry forums, workshops, conferences, and stakeholder meetings involving Airlines, MROs, Lessors, Regulators and OEMs. Actively contribute to the organisation of IATA technical symposiums, development of technical webinars.
  • Drive maintenance performance improvement projects using operational data, analytics and industry benchmarking. Support training program opportunities and new operations initiatives benefiting airline members.
  • Support and provide expertise to other stakeholders’ departments to develop the aircraft maintenance ecosystem within IATA, such as Flight Ops, Fuel team, Consultancy, Training, Technical Publications, Events, Strategic Partners.
  • Provide support to the team on organisational priorities and special assignments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree, qualifications and field experience as a B1/B2 licensed aircraft engineer or A&P equivalent, with a track record in aircraft maintenance management, development and implementation of strategic operations transformation projects.
  • A multidisciplinary profile with a minimum of 15 years of experience including airline engineering and aircraft maintenance, and work experience at a MRO, Lessor and/or an OEM organisation in operational efficiency programmes.
  • Extensive field practice and expertise in aviation regulatory frameworks (Part 145 / Part 21 / Part 66 – 65.) from EASA / FAA and other national Authorities.
  • Strong track record in delivering operational performance transformation using Power BI and data analytics for operational efficiency improvements. Expertise in leveraging data from airline Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) to develop strategic dashboards for operational transformation.
  • Recognised stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse organisations and cultures.
  • Successful track record in organising and delivering Industry Workshops and Conferences.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong team player and collaborative mindset.
