Job summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of the home, including the building, grounds, equipment and operational systems. This role ensures that routine, preventative and corrective maintenance is completed in accordance with applicable legislation, codes, regulations and organizational policies. Candidates must have the ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions. They should possess knowledge of computer technology, mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing and carpentry, as well as the ability to read and interpret equipment and systems manuals. Knowledge of applicable safety legislation, procedures and maintenance operations is essential.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing and overseeing routine, preventative and corrective maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment, furnishings and fixtures.
  • Conducting regular maintenance rounds and inspections to identify repair needs and ensure building and safe systems are functioning properly.
  • Maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as completing general repairs such as painting, replacing tiles, repairing furniture and equipment, clearing drains and addressing minor day-to-day maintenance issues.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure the home and its systems remain in good working order.
  • Coordinating and monitoring the work of external contractors, service providers and inspectors, and arranging specialized repairs as required.
  • Providing assistance and support to skilled tradespersons when necessary.
  • Participating in budget preparation and monitoring, including the ordering and purchasing of supplies, equipment and services in accordance with established policies and budgetary requirements.
  • Managing maintenance supplies, tools and equipment, including maintaining appropriate inventory levels and ensuring their safe storage and use.
  • Participating in relevant committees and collaborating with other departments to support a safe, comfortable and well‑maintained environment for residents.
  • Maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of residents and business information.
  • Maintaining required records, reports, statistics etc., in accordance with policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and safe work environment and working in a manner that reduces the risk of injury to residents, staff and visitors.

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
