Job summary

Inter Pipeline in Calgary seeks a dynamic Manager, Commercial Services to lead a team handling Long-Haul pipeline agreements. You will manage contracts, mitigate commercial risks, and maintain key shipper relationships from our Calgary office.

Reporting to the General Manager of Pipeline Commercial, you will guide negotiations, support budgeting and planning, and collaborate with Operations, Finance and Legal to optimize assets and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline required.
• 10+ years in oil and gas commercial or contract roles.
• Proven leadership, coaching and stakeholder management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to Commercial Advisors and Business Analysts in managing Long-Haul pipeline agreements.
• Oversee contract administration, audits, and risk management.
• Interface with shippers and counterparties to resolve issues and maintain relationships.
• Advise management on rights, obligations and commercial risks of contracts.
• Lead development and integration of new contracts and commercial opportunities.

Description

Located at the Inter Pipeline Calgary office, the Manager, Commercial Services, will be a key member of the fast-paced, high-performing Transportation Commercial Team.

Reporting to the General Manager of Pipeline Commercial, the Manager, Commercial Services, is responsible for leading the management and administration of Long-Haul pipeline transportation agreements, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring the effective execution of and compliance with commercial obligations. This critical contract management leadership role frequently interfaces with internal and external stakeholders and supports strategic business initiatives and growth opportunities.

Key Activities And Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of Commercial Advisors and Business Analysts responsible for the management and administration of Long-Haul pipeline transportation agreements and other commercial contracts
• Oversee contract administration activities to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including monthly administrative deliverables and shipper audits, while proactively managing commercial risks
• Serve as the primary interface with shippers and other counterparties to address commercial inquiries, resolve issues, and maintain strong customer relationships
• Act as the subject matter expert on commercial agreements for the business unit, providing guidance and strategic advice to internal stakeholders and management regarding contractual rights, obligations, and risks
• Lead contractually driven and organic commercial development opportunities, while supporting the ongoing management and optimization of pipeline assets
• Negotiate and develop new, supplemental, and amending agreements
• Lead the business integration and implementation of new contracts
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning activities by providing commercial insights related to transportation services and contractual commitments
• Contribute to strategic initiatives and large-scale growth opportunities by providing contract management expertise, customer intelligence, and market insights in support of business unit objectives
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships across Operations, Finance, Legal, and other functional groups to support ongoing contract management activities and business unit objectives

Education, Skills And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline
• 10+ years of related experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in commercial or contract management roles
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to coach, motivate, and support team performance
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret and manage complex contractual agreements
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Highly adaptable, self-motivated, and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative team player with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
