Job summary

Trans Mountain Corporation seeks a Commercial Analyst to deliver analytical, financial, and commercial support for evaluating business development and strategic opportunities. You will develop market intelligence, financial models, forecasts, and business insights to inform leadership decisions.

You will also support commercial operations, optimize processes, and drive automation while collaborating with diverse teams across the organization to advance commercial objectives and value creation.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education in Business, Economics or Engineering.
• CFA, CA, CPA, P.Eng designations are considered an asset.
• Minimum 2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of the Canadian energy industry and regulators is an asset.
• Economics and pricing experience in infrastructure/transportation is beneficial.

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Commercial Analyst. In this position, you will play a key role in providing analytical, financial, and commercial support to evaluate business development and commercial opportunities, inform strategic decision-making, and advance Trans Mountain's commercial objectives. The successful candidate will develop market intelligence, financial models, forecasts, and business insights while supporting commercial operations and driving continuous improvement through process optimization and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Support commercial and business development initiatives by evaluating opportunities, preparing presentations and briefing materials for senior leadership, and contributing to strategic decision-making through market, customer, and commercial analysis.
• Perform economic, financial, and forecasting analyses by analyzing financial models, conducting scenario evaluations, preparing forecasts and variance analyses, and assessing the commercial viability of projects and opportunities.
• Deliver market intelligence and customer insights by gathering, maintaining, and disseminating information on market trends, customer requirements, and emerging opportunities, while establishing regular processes to share actionable insights with stakeholders.
• Provide commercial operations and stakeholder support through contract-related activities, document execution, internal information gathering, ad hoc analyses, and the development of communications and reporting materials to support leadership and business objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement in commercial processes and reporting by identifying opportunities to standardize, optimize, and automate workflows, enhancing data quality, reporting efficiency, and the timely delivery of high-quality results.

Qualifications And Professional Experience

• Post secondary education in Business, Economics or Engineering
• CFA, CA, CPA, P.Eng designations are considered an asset
• Minimum 2 years of related experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Power BI
• Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision
• Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions
• Knowledge of the Canadian energy industry, pipelines, and the relationship between regulators and regulated companies would be an asset
• Economics and pricing experience in the infrastructure/transportation industry would be beneficial
• A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
• Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
