Job summary

National Bank is expanding its Commercial Banking team in Western Canada and seeks a Manager, Financing Solutions to underwrite and structure credit solutions for a diverse client base. You will partner with relationship managers to drive growth, manage risk, and deliver financing expertise across upper mid-market clients in our Fraser Valley region, ideally Surrey.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 4+ years, or NBUP diploma with 8+ years.
• Negotiation experience in credit decisions.
• Experience in commercial credit and analyzing financial statements.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with partners.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality credit analyses and make recommendations.
• Structure credit applications to mitigate risk and meet bank criteria.
• Identify client financing needs with Commercial Account Manager.

As we continue to expand our presence, we are looking for several Manager, Financing Solutions professionals to support our growing client base and strengthen our market leadership.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering financing expertise to a diverse portfolio of commercial clients while partnering closely with relationship managers to drive business growth. You will be responsible for underwriting and structuring complex credit solutions, managing risk, and supporting strategic client conversations across a broad range of industries within the Upper Mid-Market Commercial Banking segment. Your Job:

• Perform high-quality credit analyses in accordance with the standards established by the Credit Centre, and make recommendations
• Structure credit applications (board sheet structuring) by mitigating risks and developing financing scenarios that meet client needs and match the Bank's risk criteria
• Participate in determining client financing needs in collaboration with the Commercial Account Manager
• Negotiate credit terms and conditions with the Credit Risk Management as needed and confirm the availability of financing for the Commercial Account Manager
• Obtain comments from the Account Managers on the preliminary versions of credit applications, adjust them as needed, then present them to the RVP before they are forwarded to the Credit Risk Management to ensure they meet the Bank's requirements for overall client profitability
• Produce documents and update client files in collaboration with account representatives and the Credit Risk Management to ensure credit applications are processed efficiently
• Act as a resource person for your team in handling credit matters and assist, as needed, in addressing team members' skills development in this area.
• Identify the risks inherent to sector activities

Within the Commercial Banking sector, the Manager, Financing Solutions reports to the Senior Director, Commercial Credit and will based out of the Fraser Valley Region (ideally Surrey, but can also be based out of the Langley or Abbotsford locations).

Basic requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience, OR a master’s degree in a related field and 4 years of relevant experience, OR an undergraduate diploma from the National Bank University Program and 8 years of relevant experience
• Negotiation experience
• Experience in commercial credit
• Experience analyzing financial statements
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to effectively collaborate with partners and form well-reasoned recommendations
