National Bank of Canada is expanding its Commercial Banking team on Western Canada and seeks several Manager, Financing Solutions to support a growing client base and strengthen market leadership. You will underwrite and structure complex credit solutions and work with relationship managers to drive mid-market business.

Responsibilities include credit analyses, risk management, negotiating terms with Credit Risk Management, and producing credit applications with timely documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, business or accounting.
• 2+ years of experience in commercial lending.
• Knowledge of risk management, banking and credit functions.
• Experience analyzing financial statements.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

As we continue to expand our presence, we are looking for several Manager, Financing Solutions professionals to support our growing client base and strengthen our market leadership.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering financing expertise to a diverse portfolio of commercial clients while partnering closely with relationship managers to drive business growth. You will be responsible for underwriting and structuring complex credit solutions, managing risk, and supporting strategic client conversations across a broad range of industries within the Mid-Market Commercial Banking segment. • Perform high-quality credit analyses in accordance with the standards established by the bank, and make recommendations.
• Structure credit applications by mitigating risks and developing financing scenarios that meet client needs and match the Bank's risk criteria.
• Participate in determining client financing needs in collaboration with the Commercial Account Managers and the Director of Financing Solutions.
• Negotiate credit terms and conditions with the Credit Risk Management as needed and confirm the availability of financing for the Commercial Account Manager.
• Obtain comments from the Account Managers on the preliminary versions of credit applications, adjust them as needed, then present them to the Director, Financing Solutions before they are forwarded to the Credit Risk Management to ensure they meet the Bank's requirements for overall client risk profile.
• Produce documents and update client files in collaboration with account representatives and the Credit Risk Management to ensure credit applications are processed efficiently.
• Act as a resource person for your team in handling credit matters and assist, as needed, in addressing team members' skills development in this area.
• Identify the risks inherent to sector activities.

Within the Commercial Banking sector, the Manager, Financing Solutions reports to the Director, Financing Solutions and will be a part of the Vancouver Island district (either Nanaimo, Courtenay or Victoria offices). Prerequisites

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, business or accounting fields and 2+ years of experience
• Knowledge of functions of risk management, banking, business lending
• Experience in commercial credit
• Experience analyzing financial statements
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to efficiently collaborate with all partners and form well-reasoned recommendations.
