Job summary

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) is seeking an experienced Accounting leader to oversee reporting across a diverse portfolio in a fast-paced, fan-focused environment. You will coach a team, manage month-end close, and ensure strong controls while partnering with FP&A to align financials with business plans.

Located in Toronto, this full-time role requires CPA designation, extensive accounting experience, and comfort with Oracle Cloud Fusion ERP and ERP migrations.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
• Canadian CPA designation or equivalent.
• 7+ years in accounting and financial reporting, including close processes.
• Experience leading accounting professionals and building team accountability.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge across revenue, expenses, inventory, and controls.
• Experience in high-volume, multi-revenue environments.
• Ability to review financial information and drive issues to resolution.
• Strong internal controls, governance, and reporting understanding.
• Able to link operational drivers to financial insights for leaders.
• Advanced Excel and ERP systems experience; Oracle Cloud Fusion ERP asset.
• ERP implementations, integrations, migrations, or major Finance transformations.
• Experience in sports, entertainment, hospitality, or complex multi-business organizations is a plus.
• Collaborative, adaptable leadership style with initiative.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee accounting and financial reporting across a diverse portfolio.
• Coach and develop a team of accounting professionals with clear expectations and feedback.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure timely delivery.
• Provide strong review and control over journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Manage high-volume, event-driven activity including sales, inventory, and e-commerce.
• Maintain balance sheet governance and proactively resolve aged or high-risk items.
• Serve as escalation point for complex transactions and accounting judgments.
• Partner with FP&A to align accounting results with budgets and forecasts.
• Support audits and drive process improvements for controls and efficiency.
• Lead integration efforts for MLSE Oracle environment with Rogers' Oracle system.
• Drive automation and standardization across portfolios.
