Job description

Position : Manager of Financial Reporting – (Contract Role) Reports to : Controller, Bakery Division

The Manager of Financial Reporting will have complete responsibility for all aspects of financial reporting of the Vibrant Health Products Inc and Carbonaut Baking Inc business segments as well as a leadership role in the audit and budgeting processes.

  • You have advanced financial modelling skills and can prepare fully integrated three-statement financials, budgets and forecasts independently

Experience

  • You have experience with full-cycle accounting, closing month-end and preparing robust financial statements
  • You have a Canadian CPA accounting designation (or equivalent) and a minimum of 4 years of post-designation experience at the assistant manager level
  • You have experience leading a team
  • You have working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Great Plains (or an equivalent ERP system)
  • You have a Degree in Business or related discipline

Things you will do…

On a weekly basis :

  • Oversee the accountants in the preparation of cashflow forecasts on an individual entity and combined basis
  • Create reports outlining dashboards and key performance indicators (KPI’s) for the Vibrant Health Products and Carbonaut Baking business segments and perform primary review on similar dashboards created by members of the Finance team

On a monthly basis :

  • Prepare and present the month-end financial statement package for VHP, VHP USA, CBT and CBT LLC including the following :
  • Three financial statement model
  • Supporting month-end working papers such as account balance reconciliations including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, inventory, intercompany, long-term debt and foreign exchange among others
  • Budget to actual variance analysis on a line item by line-item basis in conformity
  • Ratio and trend analysis with analytic commentary
  • Liaise on-site with the warehouse team and electronically with third-party warehouses to support the physical inventory count process and follow up on inventory discrepancies with the goal to eliminate material unexplained inventory variances
  • Perform landed cost analysis on inventory purchases
  • Implement controls in order to track raw materials and finished goods inventory quantities with the third-party co-packer
  • Assist where necessary, the overall finance team inclusive of VHP, VHP USA, CBT and CBT LLC, in the preparation of the month-end financial statements, audit documents, and P&L Analysis
  • Lead the creation of the quarterly bank reporting package as required as a whole including the following :
  • Stand-alone and consolidated, fully linked, three financial statement model as at quarter-end (and forecasted to year-end when necessary)
  • Bank covenant calculations for the current quarter and forecasted to year-end

On an annual basis :

  • Lead the annual budget and LE forecasting process for VHP, VHP USA, CBT and CBT LLC
  • Perform the primary review of the annual budget for the VHP, VHP USA, CBT and CBT LLC and future business segments if required
  • Perform annual budget refreshes when required
  • Assist with all aspects of the year-end external audit
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end tax returns

As needed :

  • Support projects related to production planning, cost analysis, and the A / R and A / P functions
  • Lead product item creation and maintenance in the ERP system
  • Maintain the chart of accounts including the setup of new general ledger account codes
  • Help to coach and mentor finance and accounting team members
  • There will be an expectation to work outside of regular office hours as the job requires in order to ensure targets are met
