Job summary

Our client, a manufacturing company in the Edmonton area, is seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting to lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting. You will prepare and review financial statements, management reports, account reconciliations, and support schedules, while reviewing journal entries and complex transactions.

Ideal candidates hold a CPA/CA designation with 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience and supervisory exposure;

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Review and approve journal entries, complex accounting transactions, and adjustments.
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, depreciation, project accounting, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Maintain internal controls and monthly balance sheet reconciliations; support regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities and implement corrective actions.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow forecasting, and working capital management.
• Develop financial models, reporting tools, and analytics to support strategic decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, ERP systems, automation, and data integrity.

About the Opportunity

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with applicable accounting standards and corporate policies.
• Review and approve journal entries, complex accounting transactions, and adjustments while ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded and properly supported.
• Analyze financial results, investigate significant variances, and provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, depreciation, capital project accounting, and intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Maintain strong internal controls, ensure monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and support compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities, including documentation requests, audit findings, and implementation of corrective actions.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow forecasting, working capital management, treasury activities, and financial performance monitoring.
• Develop financial models, reporting tools, and analytical insights to support strategic initiatives, operational decision-making, and business performance improvement.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, ERP systems, financial reporting, automation, and data integrity while providing technical accounting guidance and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

About You

• Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA or CA).
• 5-7years minimumof progressive accounting experience.
• Supervisory experience is highly preferred.
• Manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred.

Salary Range

$130,000 - $145,000/year
