Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services's client in the communications sector is seeking a Manager of Finance - Controllers to lead the financial close, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain strong controls. You will partner with stakeholders, drive process improvements, and guide governance on contracts and complex transactions.

You will manage and develop a team, support strategic projects, and leverage automation and AI-enabled solutions to enhance data quality and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce or a related field.
• CPA designation or equivalent finance experience is asset.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in similar accounting role.
• Strong IFRS knowledge, including IFRS 15 and IFRS 16.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience with automation, AI, machine learning, or data analytics is an asset.

About the Opportunity

• Lead and support the financial close process, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial results while maintaining a strong control environment and reporting requirements
• Partner with various business stakeholders to understand the business
• Analyze and present financial information to drive value-add decision-making
• Provide guidance on new transactions, projects, processes and accounting standards while maintaining strong governance and controls
• Review, analyze and summarize accounting for contracts, policies and complex transactions
• Drive transformation of financial close activities through process optimization, centralization, automation, and the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions.
• Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, systems, data quality, and reporting capabilities, partnering with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
• Lead and support strategic projects and organizational transformation initiatives.
• Manage and develop teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, or a related field.
• CPA designation or equivalent finance experience is considered an asset.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in similar accounting role.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience applying IFRS accounting standards, including expert-level knowledge of IFRS 15 (Revenue) and IFRS 16 (Leases).
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience with automation, AI, machine learning, or data analytics tools is an asset.

Salary Range

$100,000 – $110,000 / year

You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
