Job description

We are looking for a Field Operations Manager for the Alberta region, that will be responsible for their remote team’s daily activities by supporting build projects, infrastructure maintenance and emergency repairs on both the Xplore Fibre and fixed wireless network. Excellent team management, organizational and communication skills are necessary. The successful candidate will provide hands-on direction, scheduling, and support for the Field Operations Technicians and resources. This individual will be required to plan maintenance and construction activities as well as handling escalated support requests. This position acts as a prime technical contact to external and internal support groups in the areas of network repair, maintenance, support, construction and safety practices. This role requires knowledge of IP Networking, extensive knowledge & experience of both Fibre & Fixed Wireless Network equipment and deployments. This position reports to the Regional Director of Network Deployment & Field Operations, and will involve both on call support and off-hours work.

Key responsibilities include:

• Support the Network Build program. Coordinate in-field project execution and hot-cut activities. Design and document process improvements. Plan and Implement site enhancements to improve the reliability of the Xplore network.
• Outage Management – Respond appropriately to critical outage events. This includes the coordination, communication, and troubleshooting of events in a timely manner from beginning through resolution. Active support of the infield team, resource coordination and continuous improvement.
• Team management & development, Policy & Best Practice development and field safety.
• Network Maintenance and optimization activities – manage and coordinate day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the physical infrastructure.
• Provide after hours on-call support for the emergency restoration of services.
• Intermediate understanding of IP networking
• Experience configuring and installing Ceragon, Alpha, Ciena, Cisco, and Ericson or Huawei RAN equipment
• Experience with the construction and maintenance of communication tower sites;
• Experience with network monitoring tools (i.e. Cacti).
• Strong communications skills – written, listening and verbal, presentations etc.
• Strong organizational and time/task management skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A minimum of five years related work experience and a degree/diploma from a related discipline. 3-5 years’ experience with network deployment and management.
• Minimum of 2 years’ leadership experience in work group management with direct reports.
• Strong problem solving, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and interact with groups throughout the organization.
• Capable of working on a variety of projects and coordinating multiple priorities.
• Strong knowledge of both Fibre and Fixed Wireless Networks and deployments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of field and construction safety practices.
