Job summary

Yorkville University is seeking applications for the position of Manager, Facilities. Reporting to the Director, Facilities & Real Estate, this leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the university's New Brunswick campuses and office locations. The Manager will oversee facilities maintenance, capital and operational projects, health and safety compliance, and day‑day campus operations while leading a high‑performing team and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to create exceptional learning and working environments that support Yorkville University's mission of championing student success.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Facilities & Real Estate, the Manager, Facilities in New Brunswick is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and efficiency of Yorkville University’s New Brunswick campuses and office locations. This position ensures facilities are safe, well‑maintained, and conducive to the productivity and well‑being of faculty, staff, students, and visitors. The Manager, Facilities collaborates with various departments, both internal and external to manage facilities‑related projects ensuring seamless operations. As a leader, this role contributes to a working environment where all team members can grow and thrive, supporting our corporate mission of championing student success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the facilities managemnet of the New Brunswick campuses and office locations, including an upcoming site move.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program to ensure the proper functioning of all building systems, including liaison and coordination with the base‑building property manager on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and security systems.
  • Oversee routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks to keep the facilities in optimal condition, coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance services.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective measures, partnering with the Director, Facilities & Real Estate and Manager, Safety & Security, as neeed.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Facilities & Real Estate and Manager, Safety & Security to maintain emergency response plans that address potential crises or incidents.
  • Address and resolve facilities‑related issues and requests from employees and other interest holders promptly and effectively, managing post‑completion records and documentation, where needed.
  • Plan and execute facilities‑related projects, such as renovations, expansions, relocations or disposal/re‑purposing of all manner of items related to normal operations.
  • Actively contribute as a team‑member and subject matter expert to company‑wide facilities discussions and decision‑making, including on matters related to health and safety, procurement strategies, strategic planning, budget planning and human resources development.
  • Contribute to a positive corporate culture that supports equity, inclusion, learning, and wellness.
  • Lead the Facilities team in Sackville, New Brunswick, providing coaching and managing performance.
  • Oversee the development of the Miramichi Campus, from a facilities and maintence perspective.
  • This role is based out of Sackville, New Brunswick and must have the ability to travel between campuses and office locations in New Brunswick (Fredericton, Sackville and Miramichi)
  • This role requires on‑call flexibility to support incidents or emergencies outside standard business hours.
Skills, Experience & Competencies
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in facilities management or related fields, with a track record of successfully managing complex facilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Demonstrated ability and interest in continuous development and on‑going learning is required.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance best practices, and safety regulations; familiarity with sustainability practices and energy‑efficient technologies.
  • Proven capacity to adhere to policies and procedures, to support the ongoing maintenance of buildings, studios and equipment room and other spaces.
  • Project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Participate in planning and execution of (frequently simultaneous) facilitiy‑related projects, such as renovations, expansions, or relocations, along with other enteprise teams.
  • Experience working with an established maintenance management system is desireable, where data‑informed decision‑making occurs.
  • Experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); experience integrating a CMMS is an asset.
  • Problem‑solving skills and the ability to handle and resolve facilities‑related issues.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in people leadership, including fostering inclusive working environments and managing team responsibilities.
  • Experience working in highly dynamic and fast paced settings and/or organizations.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams).

This role currently has one direct report, with the potential for additional direct reports over time.

This role has an on‑site requirement of 5 days a week.

This position offers a salary range of $75,000 to $90,000 annually, with placement within the range based on experience, education, and internal equity.
