Canadian Banking Finance is a divisional finance function providing financial management and analytical support to Canadian Banking Executive Management and Business Line management in Retail, Automotive Lending, Small Business, and Commercial Banking areas.
The Manager will be a member of the Expense Management Team, responsible for ensuring effective expense management and optimization of business investments aligned with Canadian Banking’s strategic priorities. The role includes preparing and analyzing expenses, quarterly forecasts, annual profit plans, 5-year base case projections, and three-year strategic plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support forecasting and planning processes for Canadian Banking business partners:
- Assist in delivering forecasts and profit plans, including quarterly, pre-quarter, 5-year base case, stress testing, strategic plan, and annual profit plan.
- Coordinate data collection from support groups and ensure timely submissions.
- Perform analytical reviews for accuracy and business insights.
- Communicate deliverables among support groups and provide comprehensive commentary.
- Support end-to-end planning processes, including template updates and consolidations.
- Respond to management queries regarding forecasts and plans.
- Perform ad hoc analyses as a subject matter expert on expenses, supporting distribution channels and product teams.
- Analyze expense results and variances to understand impacts and support issue resolution.
- Enhance expense reporting, planning, and forecasting tools like Hyperion and EGL/OBI/Smartview.
- Ensure accuracy of COFA changes and support tool development and testing.
- Contribute to streamlining processes to improve productivity and provide coaching on expense management.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting, with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Professional accounting designation or MBA preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Hyperion, and related tools.
- Understanding of financial and management reporting principles.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Leadership skills and ability to operate in a complex environment.
- Attention to detail and control over financial reporting integrity.
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
