About The Role

DMCL Chartered Professional Accountants is looking for a Manager to join our Entertainment Group in either our Vancouver or Victoria office. This is not your typical accounting role—here, you’ll step into the dynamic world of entertainment, working closely with musicians, actors, artist managers, record labels, and more, acting as their trusted business and financial advisor.

Our Entertainment Group is deeply immersed in the industry, managing the financial lives of creatives so they can focus on their craft. Think of us as the off-site accounting department for our clients : we’re their bookkeepers, controllers, payroll specialists, and tax advisors—all rolled into one. From tour budgeting and day-to-day bill payments to cross-border tax planning and year-end compliance, we help our clients stay financially sound and future-focused.

We’re looking for someone with strong tax and accounting experience, and an excitement for learning the business side of entertainment. If you’re energized by working in a fast-paced environment, love collaborating with creative professionals, and have a knack for problem-solving and prioritization, we want to hear from you.

How you’ll make a difference

As a Manager in our Entertainment Group, you’ll play a key role in both client service and team leadership. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Managing a portfolio of entertainment clients as their go-to Business Manager
  • Overseeing day-to-day accounting functions including AP / AR, cash flow management, payroll, intercompany reconciliations, and tour accounting
  • Preparing and reviewing year-end compilations and corporate tax returns
  • Preparing and reviewing T1 personal tax returns and tax slips (T4, T4A, T5, etc.)
  • Providing Canadian, US, and international tax guidance and planning
  • Communicating regularly with clients by answering questions, providing strategic advice, and helping them make informed financial decisions
  • Identifying opportunities to improve client operations and grow the firm’s entertainment practice
  • Mentoring and supervising junior and intermediate team members

Who you are

  • A designated CPA with several years of experience in public practice, particularly with Private Enterprise clients
  • Well-versed in Canadian tax, with experience preparing both personal and corporate returns (bonus if you have exposure to international or US filings)
  • A natural multi-tasker who thrives in high-volume, high-energy environments
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively, with a proactive and flexible mindset
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and offer practical advice to creative clients
  • Experienced with CaseWare and Taxprep; knowledge of QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero is an asset
  • Genuinely interested in entertainment, music, or the arts and excited to grow your career in this industry
  • Enjoy the idea of heading out to local shows or festivals after work

What DMCL offers

At DMCL, we understand that life is more than just work. That’s why we offer a people-first, flexible work culture alongside a competitive compensation and benefits package, including :

  • Paid overtime or time off in lieu at all levels
  • 12 additional flexible days off annually, on top of vacation
  • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
  • Support for continued education, training, and development
  • Mental and physical wellness initiatives
  • Firm-sponsored social events
  • Excess time meal allowance policy
  • Opportunities for career growth, leadership, and specialization
