Manulife Job Opportunity: Manager, E-21 Operational Resilience

The Canada Operations 1st Line Risk & Controls Team is seeking an enthusiastic, organized individual for the role of Manager, E-21 Operational Resilience. This role involves representing Canada Operations in implementing the core components of the OSFI framework. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional with extensive operations experience in areas such as insurance, affinity markets, group benefits, contact centres, and/or project management. Experience working with business collaborators and/or Risk Management to deliver key risk program elements is essential.

Success in this role requires collaboration, facilitation (including workshops and interviews), and organizational skills, working with business and SME stakeholders. Additional collaborators include Global ORM, Technology, Legal, Finance, HR, and Compliance.

Position Responsibilities:
  1. Work with business partners to deliver core elements of OSFI E-21 Operational Resilience, establishing and maintaining a resiliency framework.
  2. Identify, assess, and improve critical operations and services (COS).
  3. Analyze COS including scope, impact tolerance, end-to-end mapping of assets, failure points, action plans, and testing.
  4. Partner with COS owners and related programs to implement and monitor remediation efforts.
  5. Navigate cross-functional relationships to address issues, develop strategies, and implement solutions.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or relevant industry certification in operational risk.
  • At least 5 years of experience with strong knowledge of business processes, risks & controls, or exposure to business operations & projects with risk management methodologies.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with business partners to facilitate analysis and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex information across organizational levels.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Confidence to ask pertinent questions and flexibility to adapt conclusions based on new information.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with process flow analysis, failure mode analysis, or control planning.
  • Knowledge of insurance, group benefits, affinity markets, and contact centres.
  • Familiarity with OSFI E-21 guidelines.

Location and Compensation

Primary Location: Waterloo, Ontario (Hybrid work arrangement). Salary range: $80,700 - $145,260 CAD. For roles outside primary location, contact us for local salary details. Compensation may include incentive programs based on performance.
