Job summary

Good Shepherd Centres seeks a Manager, Development for its Toronto operations to lead fundraising and donor engagement activities. You will build relationships with donors, coordinate campaigns, and support stewardship efforts to align with organizational priorities.

How You Will Make an Impact

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer – Toronto, the Manager, Development – Toronto supports fundraising and donor engagement activities for Good Shepherd's Toronto programs and services.

The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with donors, prospective donors, community partners, and other supporters; coordinate fundraising initiatives and campaigns; and support donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities in alignment with organizational priorities.

  • Implement fundraising activities and initiatives to support established goals and priorities for Toronto programs and services.
  • Support individual giving, annual and capital campaigns, sponsorships, gifts-in-kind, and other donor-supported initiatives.
  • Identify prospective donors, community partners, and fundraising opportunities and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, foundations, corporate partners, faith communities, service clubs, volunteers, and other community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, recognition, and follow-up activities.
  • Prepare donor proposals, correspondence, presentations, and other fundraising materials in collaboration with leadership, Communications, and internal partners.
  • Coordinate and participate in fundraising campaigns, donor meetings, tours, events, and community engagement activities.
  • Work with Toronto program leaders to identify opportunities to engage donors and community partners in support of program needs.
  • Maintain accurate donor, prospect, activity, and donation records in the donor database and related systems.
  • Track fundraising activity, donor engagement, campaign progress, and revenue results and prepare routine reports and updates.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Communications, Toronto leadership, and the broader Development function regarding donations, donor materials, reporting, and stewardship.
  • Ensure donations are appropriately acknowledged and documented.
  • Conduct fundraising activities in accordance with applicable legislation, privacy requirements, ethical fundraising practices, donor intent, and organizational policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve donor communications, stewardship practices, fundraising processes, and administrative procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
  • Commitment to Good Shepherd's Values of Responsibility, Availability, Adaptability, Hospitality, Quality, and Dignity.
  • Minimum three years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, resource development, community engagement, or a related field, preferably within the non-profit, health, social services, or community services sector.
  • Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of fundraising practices, including donor cultivation and stewardship, campaigns, sponsorships, and gifts-in-kind.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with donors, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting donor solicitation and stewardship activities.
  • Experience using donor databases or fundraising systems; experience with Raiser's Edge or a similar platform is an asset.
  • Knowledge of ethical fundraising practices, donor privacy, and stewardship expectations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, relationship management, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and internal partners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
