Are you a dynamic communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Do you want to help shape the public conversation around the essential resources that build Ontario? The Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (OSSGA) is seeking a strategic and creative Manager, Communications & Social Media to lead the development and delivery of key messaging across platforms and audiences.

OSSGA is the voice of aggregate producers across Ontario — representing companies that supply the stone, sand, and gravel that form the foundation of the province’s roads, bridges, buildings and communities. Our mission is to advocate for a safe, sustainable, and economically vital aggregate industry.

About the Role

As Manager, Communications, you will work closely with senior leadership and external partners to create and implement communications and marketing strategies that speak to a range of stakeholders — from government and industry to Indigenous communities and the public. You’ll play a central role in telling the story of Ontario’s aggregate sector and amplifying the voice of OSSGA and its members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and agencies to deliver targeted communications to government, environmental stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and OSSGA members.
  • Manage OSSGA’s social media presence (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube) — including the creation of short-form video, audio, and reputation-focused content.
  • Manage OSSGA's website including content update using our Content Management Software.
  • Produce and distribute OSSGA’s weekly Rock Talk e-newsletter using Constant Contact.
  • Oversee OSSGA’s flagship magazine Avenues from concept to delivery (twice annually).
  • Lead production of the annual Source Book — OSSGA’s member directory and resource guide.
  • Represent OSSGA at trade shows and events as a polished and professional spokesperson.
  • Provide rapid response to emerging communications issues.
  • Support the development of speeches, promotional materials, videos, advocacy campaigns, and event communications.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in a communications role, ideally in a political or advocacy context.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong creative instincts, including intermediate graphic design skills.
  • Be adaptable and motivated by a dynamic work environment.
  • Experience with social media management, multimedia content creation and CMS software.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Office as well as video editing software.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and collaborative skills.
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (mileage reimbursed).

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary for an intermediate position.
  • Full benefits package after three months, including employer RRSP contributions.
  • Four weeks annual vacation.
  • The opportunity to shape public awareness of Ontario’s critical infrastructure sector.

Interested applications should submit a cover letter, including salary expectations, and copy of their resume to:sarmstrong@ossga.com.

Thank you to all applicants for your interest. Please note that only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
