Job summary

Credit Union Central of Manitoba is seeking an experienced communications leader to guide how we connect with members, stakeholders and internal teams. You will translate complex issues into clear messages, develop campaigns, and drive engagement across advocacy, research, member services, events and operations.

You will lead two direct reports, collaborate across departments, and champion innovation while using data analytics to improve impact in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressive communications experience.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills.
  • Experience developing communications strategies and digital campaigns.
  • Confidence working with executives and diverse stakeholders.
  • Curiosity, initiative and a willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • A collaborative approach across advocacy, research, member services, events and operations.
  • Adaptability and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead communications and member engagement planning.
  • Develop key messages, campaigns and content priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen member awareness and participation.
  • Monitor results and continuously improve communications efforts.
  • Draft executive speeches, presentations, briefing notes and correspondence.
  • Provide communications advice to senior leadership.
  • Support departments across the organization by identifying and addressing their internal communications needs.
  • Support member, stakeholder and industry engagement activities.
  • Lead newsletters, email campaigns, website, intranet and extranet strategy and content.
  • Serve as the organization's lead writer and editor.
  • Maintain a clear, consistent organizational voice.
  • Support the Member Experience & Engagement Coordinator in managing social media planning, content and day-to-day execution.
  • Use insights and analytics to improve communication effectiveness.
  • Lead and support two direct reports: the Member Experience & Engagement Coordinator and Marketing Specialist.
  • Build strong relationships across teams and external partners.
  • Contribute to organizational planning and special projects.
  • Champion new ideas, continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Use trusted AI tools and systems safely and securely to improve workflows, find efficiencies and increase impact.
  • Encourage experimentation and creative problem solving.
  • Help shape how the organization communicates in a changing environment.

About Credit Union Central of Manitoba

Credit Union of Manitoba (CUCM) is the trade association and service provider for the province's 15 autonomous credit unions. CUCM's purpose is to provide strategic leadership for credit unions, and to deliver high-value solutions that help each credit union achieve its vision.

The position:

Reporting to the Vice President, Operations & Engagement, the Manager, Communications & Engagement leads how Credit Union Central of Manitoba connects with members, stakeholders and internal teams.

This role translated complex issues into effective communications that build understanding, strengthen relationships and support engagement across the system. Working across advocacy, research, member services, events and operations, you will help connect the dots, bring clarity to organizational priorities and show the value of CUCM's work.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, embraces new ideas and is motivated by challenging themselves to do meaningful, impactful work.

Key responsibilities:
Communications Strategy & Engagement
