Job summary

Hydro Ottawa is seeking a Manager of Asset Management & Technical Standards to lead engineering governance, lifecycle optimization, and comprehensive asset health strategies. You will align ISO 55000 principles with long-term reliability and grid safety while guiding budget priorities and regulatory interactions.

The role requires a PE license in Ontario, 5+ years in leadership, and strong collaboration with executive stakeholders to deliver high‑impact asset performance in a hybrid work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer licensed in the Province of Ontario.
• Minimum of five years in a leadership role; experience in an electric utility engineering environment is an asset.
• Knowledge of ISO 55000 Asset Management is an asset.
• Strong computer skills; English essential; bilingual (English/French) considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and manage a team of supervisors and engineers, establishing governance and goals.
• Drive long-term sustainment and resilience of the distribution network.
• Develop, defend, and optimize Asset Management Plans and maintenance methodologies per ISO 55000.
• Oversee engineering standards and system coordination for a safe grid baseline.
• Navigate regulatory frameworks and prepare technical justification for regulatory filings.
• Manage annual budgets for standards development, protection coordination, and asset management.
• Apply asset health indexing and lifecycle costing to inform capital replacement decisions.
• Prioritize capital allocation using the Value Framework for high-risk assets.
• Anticipate electrification and DER impacts on assets and guide standards evolution.
• Support Engineer Intern development and licensure pathways.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
