Job summary

CARBONLEO is seeking an Asset Design Manager to safeguard design standards across our Montreal-area properties. You will partner with Operations, Customer Experience, and Marketing to assess assets, implement improvements, and deliver high-quality spaces aligned with our brand.

This role requires on-site leadership, scheduled projects, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance guest experience and sustainability.

Qualifications

  • University degree in interior design, environmental design, landscape architecture, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in design, management and coordination of design projects.
  • Excellent observational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Creativity and aesthetic judgment balancing operational needs with standards.
  • Strong understanding of design for commercial environments and landscaping.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects with landscape architects and consultants.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate.
  • Autonomy and ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain on-site presence to assess property quality and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and oversee continuous improvement plans with Operations teams.
  • Coordinate landscaping evolution with Operations teams and consultants.
  • Develop design projects for operating assets, including indoor/outdoor areas.
  • Plan signage, redevelopment, and space improvement projects within budget and schedule.
  • Ensure Design Criteria are implemented across assets.
  • Review design requests from tenants and coordinate with Leasehold Improvements.
  • Monitor industry best practices in design and landscaping.
  • Perform other related tasks.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Senior Director, Design & Studio3D, the Asset Design Manager serves as the guardian of Carbonleo’s design standards. Responsible for maintaining and enhancing the quality of assets in operation, this person serves as the primary design partner for the Operations teams and ensures that each property delivers an experience consistent with Carbonleo’s standards of excellence—in terms of the quality of its spaces, landscaping, and brand identity.

Working closely with the Operations, Customer Experience, and Marketing teams, this person maintains a regular on-site presence to assess property quality, identify opportunities for improvement, design and develop solutions that meet operational needs and accommodate the evolution of the assets, and then oversee their implementation. They ensure that the highest standards of design, landscaping, and customer experience are maintained across all projects.

Through quality reviews, management of operational design projects, application of Design Criteria, and a continuous improvement approach, this person directly contributes to preserving and strengthening Carbonleo’s position among the most prestigious real estate destinations in North America.

Responsabilities
  • Serve as the primary design partner for the Operations teams by maintaining a regular on-site presence to assess the quality of properties, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend necessary actions.
  • Continuously monitor the condition of assets, and develop and implement continuous improvement plan, in collaboration with the Operations teams, to maintain the highest standards of quality, design, landscaping, customer experience, and brand image.
  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee the evolution of the properties’ landscaping in collaboration with the Operations teams and specialized consultants to provide distinctive, sustainable outdoor environments that are consistent with Carbonleo’s design and quality standards.
  • Conceive, develop, and oversee design projects related to operating assets, including indoor and outdoor common areas, seasonal installations, and initiatives aimed at enhancing customer experience.
  • Plan and coordinate signage, redevelopment, and space improvement projects, ensuring coordination among consultants, professionals, suppliers, and contractors, as well as adherence to quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Ensure the implementation, maintenance, and evolution of Carbonleo’s Design Criteria across all operating assets.
  • Review design requests and proposals from tenants in operation and coordinate with the Leasehold Improvements team.
  • Monitor best practices in design, landscaping, signage, and mixed-use property development to recommend innovative initiatives.
  • Perform any other related tasks.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • A university degree in interior design, environmental design, landscape architecture, or any other relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in design, management, and coordination of design projects, ideally in a commercial or mixed‑use setting.
  • Excellent observational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, enabling the identification of opportunities for improvement and the proposal of appropriate solutions.
  • Creativity, excellent aesthetic judgment, and the ability to develop design concepts that balance operational needs, customer experience, and Carbonleo’s quality standards.
  • Excellent understanding of design as applied to commercial environments, including materials, furniture, signage, outdoor spaces, and landscaping principles.
  • Experience managing and coordinating multidisciplinary projects, as well as collaborating with landscape architects, consultants, and other specialized partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, engage, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across organizational boundaries.
  • Autonomy, a sense of initiative, excellent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written.
