This position is a hybrid role (3 days in the office), based out of our corporate office located in Mississauga, Ontario.

Mission:

The Manager, Accounts Receivable (internally known as Manager, Revenue Cycle), within a team environment, is responsible to ensure that residents and commercial leasees of Cogir managed properties, across multiple clients, are billed on a timely basis, collections processes are followed and related accounting transactions are accurately and timely represented in the accounting system.

Key Outcomes:

  • Design and oversight of Accounts Receivable (AR) processes to ensure accurate and timely resident billing, balances and account management within Yardi
  • Lead, mentor and empower AR team to be business partners to support properties in the management of resident accounts and collaborate to support property AR needs as well as on-boarding of new properties for AR processes
  • Accounting policies and control processes are adhered to by properties and AR team for Revenue cycle transactions within a defined SOX control environment
  • Positive team engagement results achieved through successful performance management of AR team members
  • Drive collection processes and efforts to minimize resident AR balances

Key Responsibilities:

  • To oversee the resident account maintenance, billing processes, rent increases and tax receipt filing and various audits of AR controls and transactions
  • To provide direction to collections activities and ensure processes and reporting maintains accountability and that resident AR balances are minimized with appropriate accounting provisions recorded
  • To identify and submit overdue AR accounts to 3rd party collection agency
  • To serve as primary point of contact with the 3rd party collection agency, track and report progress on their collections and reconcile agency reports to the AR subledger
  • Ensure approved resident account write-offs are completed as per policy
  • To review and approve all billing system changes within Yardi and ensure that adequate testing and documentation has been completed
  • Lead monthly close in Yardi for AR transactions and integration to accounting system with accuracy and adherence to deadlines
  • To review monthly reports and accounting reconciliations to monitor accuracy and completeness of billings and trust accounts, and compliance to corporate policies
  • To develop and maintain work instructions for all corporate accounts receivable processes;
  • To monitor daily service levels, analyze root causes and provide process remediation recommendations
  • To recruit, develop, coach, and manage staff including performance appraisals
  • To uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Cogir’s Code of Conduct
  • To complete all other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Credentials and Experience:

  • 5+ years of related experience in a high-volume environment
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset
  • Experience operating Yardi is an asset, or other large-scale finance system
  • Strong leadership experience, leading a team of direct reports towards successful goals achievement
  • Shared service and continuous improvement environment experience
  • Effective problem solving, critical thinking and influencing skills
  • Attention to detail with emphasis to achieve accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build strong working relationships across the business
