Job summary

Nova Scotia Health seeks a Mammography Technologist to operate mammographic and ultrasound units, delivering high-quality breast images for screening and diagnostic purposes. The role requires CAMRT certification, NSCMIRTP licensure, and the ability to travel to mobile and hospital sites.

Flexibility to work across modalities, participate in continuing education, and communicate within a multidisciplinary team is essential.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiological Technology.
  • CAMRT certification and NSCMIRTP licensure required.
  • Willingness to maintain CAM MAP CME credits (15 hours/3 years).
  • Willingness to complete Breast Imaging I & II courses and related session.
  • Prior experience is an asset; ability to work across modalities is an asset.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Strong time management, independence, and teamwork. French language an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mammography and/or ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality breast images.
  • Deliver patient-centred care with minimal supervision and professional judgment.
  • Communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment and ensure safety.

About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the delivery of patient centered care while operating mammographic and/or sonographic equipment and techniques with minimal supervision while exercising independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for operating a mammography and/or ultrasound unit to produce high quality images of the breasts for screening and diagnostic purposes, while continuously remaining responsive to and responsible for each patient in their care.

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for effective communication in a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary environment while fostering a culture of safety in the workplace.

This position involves travel on the Nova Scotia Breast Screening Mobile Unit and in the Mammography Department at Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Radiological Technology
  • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification
  • Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP) licensure
  • Must be willing to obtain continuing education as part of the CAR Mammography Accreditation Program (CAR-MAP), which includes annual maintenance of continuing education course (15 hours CME credits every 3 years)
  • Must be willing to obtain Breast Imaging I and Breast Imaging II courses (25 continuing education hours per course), and Bring your Position Upfront: Breast Position Virtual Session (1 hour session)
  • Previous experience is an asset
  • Qualification to work in more than one Diagnostic Imaging modality is an asset
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Ability to use time effectively by organizing and prioritizing duties, while working independently and under minimal supervision
  • Possess the physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position
  • Demonstrates initiative, organizational and prioritizing skills; and the demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively within inter-professional teams
  • Comprehension of the technical language to be able to review and use manuals and take part in relevant discussions
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
Compensation And Benefits

$36.87 - $45.21 hourly
