An established industry player seeks a dedicated Maintenance Worker to join their Facilities Management team. In this role, you will provide essential support in the operation, maintenance, and repair of campus building systems. Your responsibilities will include performing semi-skilled tasks and assisting skilled tradespersons. The Trades Shops team works together to ensure effective, efficient, and safe performance in the operation, maintenance, and repair of campus building systems.
Under direct or general supervision, the Maintenance Worker provides labourer or semi-skilled services in one or more trades or qualified areas as defined by the Industrial Training Authority of BC (ITA), BC Safety Authority, and/or recognized licensing or training institutions. The incumbent assists tradespersons or technicians, performs semi-skilled tasks safely, and acts as a labourer.
Regulated work must be performed only by those holding the required qualifications. The incumbent performs related duties of similar scope and complexity, either independently or collaboratively within a single discipline or multidisciplinary shop, providing plant and facilities engineering maintenance services. The role also includes assisting in emergent situations within the physical and skill capacity of the individual.
The incumbent shall conform to all best practices concerning UVic standards, industry standards, and compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations.
Basic routine maintenance tasks or assistance in renovations and construction are performed, with the volume depending on work assignment.
Experience: This position requires approximately 2 years of relevant industry experience in a similar capacity.
