Position Overview

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement in quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting and Responsibilities

Reports to the Chief Engineer or designate. Operates, maintains, and repairs the site Power Plant and related equipment across the Facility or other SI VIHA facilities as assigned. Duties include operating boilers, generators, heating, air conditioning, exhaust systems, and associated equipment. Monitors building alarms, adjusts systems for optimal temperature, pressure, and flow to ensure a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment. Performs trades duties approaching journeyman level in areas such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry, in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

• Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of BC.
• Two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid BC Driver's License.
