Job summary

Carewest is seeking a skilled Power Engineer to join our maintenance team in Calgary. You will perform maintenance on boilers, cooling systems and other equipment, with a focus on safety, reliability, and logs/records.

The role includes preventative maintenance responsibilities and leadership as required. Minimum 3–5 years in large building maintenance and a valid Power Engineer certificate are required, along with a valid Class 5 license and access to a vehicle.

Qualifications

• 5th class Power Engineer Certificate or A/B with Special Boiler Operator's Certificate.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with reliable vehicle access.
• 3–5 years in large building and equipment maintenance, including boilers.
• Basic computer skills for AHS e-Facilities system.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems (boilers, cooling, washers/dryers).
• Monitor, control, repair boilers and cooling systems; conduct boiler checks.
• Maintain logs and logs, assist with preventative maintenance program.
• Lead when necessary and take on leadership duties when required.

The Opportunity:

Under limited supervision, performs a variety of skilled and complex maintenance and repair duties in accordance with accepted standards and procedures. This includes checking, testing, installing, repairing and maintaining complex mechanical equipment and systems such as washers, dryers, dishwashers, and non-biomedical equipment; monitoring,
controlling and repairing boilers and cooling systems; responsible for boiler checks; performing renovation and structural repair work; keeping logs and records; implementation and completion of preventative maintenance program; ability to take on a leadership role when necessary.

Responsible for other related duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum 5th class Power Engineer Certificate or combination of A or B with Special Boiler Operator's Certificate.
• Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in large building and equipment maintenance, including boiler operations required.
• Basic computer skills are required for daily use of the AHS e-Facilities system.
